Click - No power. Electrical relay?

Hey,

I recently relocated my battery to my trunk using 0G wire from the front to the back for positive, and a 0G ground to the chassis.
Now what happens on occasion is if I jump into the car, push down the clutch, put the key into the ACC position to the point where everything comes on without turning over the engine.. and then put turn the key for ignition I hear a very audible "Click" from what sounds like under my dash, and then I have no power.
But.. if I jump into the car, put the clutch down, put the key in, and then turn it right away to ignition without waiting, it fires up fine.

When it loses power (It seems like a circuit pops, or a relay is tripped?) I either pop the circuit breaker in the trunk, put it back in, and its good again or wait for a while and it comes back eventually. Typically within a minute or so.

Any input would be nice, Im going to measure the voltage up front throughout the process ASAP to try and figure it out, but at the moment I dont have a measuring device kicking around.

Thanks,
Josh

You'd want to do a voltage drop test, a way of using a voltmeter to fnd a connection that isn't bad enough to stop some current flow, but when it comes to the high amperage of your starter, a connection in the circuit goes kaputs.

More info here: http://www.aa1car.com/library/voltage_drop_testing.htm

Could also be the ignition switch I suppose, with those if you wiggle the key forward/back up or up/dopwn it will suddenly crank. But it really sounds more like a weak connection. Check all those battery terminals, the ground, the + wire going to the starter and from the selenoid to the starter, the connections on both sides of the fuse in the trunk.
