Kudos to your new stereo! The reverse camera is awesome! Next time have your friend to the camera work while your explaining. Got a little dizzy from the shaky cam.

That is a great HU. I have the older model AVX800 and wished my screen was detachable like yours.

I did everything myself so if anyone needs any help feel free and the unit wasn't 700 bucks, Everything was which are...Headunit, Back-up Camera, Wiring harness and steering wheel adapter & double din kit...

The sound is amazing and i'm so glad i did it and i'm selling the stock 6cd changer over in the audio/video section and i will make another video tonight showing the camera at night time and put it up on this post...

I love everything and have no issues and not only is the sound better but it's louder than stock system and perfectly clear with no hiss or snap/crackle/pop...

The picture you see above is with the face taken out, but the motorized flap that the faceplate snaps into is still there and is covering the CD and SD card slot.

That looks really good, maybe ill post a vid of my IVA-W505. I tried messing with the Scocshe (best kit). Like yours I think but couldnt really get it to look flush and it left a gap betwee the bottom and the AC unit. Its a 2000 GLE so maybe thats it. I kept my Black custom cover. Idk why double dins pop out so much though, mine and yours I feel pop out too much and it bugs me. I love the back up camera, kinda wierd for daylight but night time was a very cool feature. I have 5% everywhere haha and I cant see ANYTHING at night. maybe ill invest.... heres some quick pics.

If you don't like how your deck sticks out on the double-din ISO mount re-drill your brackets to line up flush with the edge of the trim.

tried that yesterday and didnt work too well, it ended up going in too far and it made the cover not fit anymore. It was a disaster

Damn sorry to hear that, if it's any help..the new scosche kit comes with the side brackets so you can at least replace it and the side brackets are a slide design instead of screw holes so you can adjust depth...

KCXD35,

A job well done man. That is a clean piece of gear. I'm thinking about a similar setup for my '03 GLE as my BOSE looks like its on its way out. How long did the install take you? Would you recommend a pseudo-novice to take a go at it? Do you still retain the steering wheel audio controls and trip computer functions (I was reading somewhere that the computer leads are into the HU)... Anything you would change about the install? Could you suggest a place online to pick up all the components? TIA for answering my noob-ish questions.. Been around for a long time, just a noob when it comes to A/V...

Cheers,

AK

Nick: Scosche said the bracket i have is there newest one cause they redesigned it recently as in the past two weeks so all the other kits are considered the old kits, Mine needed no trimming and i agree it sticks out a big too much but the brackets i have you can slide it back ferther which is nice and i may do it but at the time i was just glad to be finished... =O)
That Alpine looks sweet...

MaxAK : Yes i still have the steering wheel controls and to retain them i had to by something called PAC-JACK from crutchfield which rapes you in prices and all you have to do it ground one of the leads to make the computer fuctions work and i wouldn't change anything about the install, i love it...

Also if your looking for cheap stuff just go to google and type what you want and click the first link i believe which will show you all the stores that sell it online and sort by price and pick the cheapest one or reputable company...

Now for the install....It's pretty simple....Just follow the diagrams and wire the wires togethor...I did the whole install with a screwdriver/Flathead and a broad nose pliers to crimp the butt connecters....

The only difficult part and i can't even say it was too difficult was tuning the PAC-Jack to make the steering wheel controls work and adjusting the volume with the nissan/Infiniti intigration adapter from crutchfield...

So all in all yes you can do it yourself and the installation took me about 3 hours because i was taking my time and enjoying the beautiful day, talking to ppl and what not, But yes it's pretty simple and i'm always around if you need help just PM me and i will give you my number or whatever...

The only problem i do have and i will post up another video today showing the steering wheel controls and the installation wires is the back-up camera, Whenever my lights turn on (parking or headlights) my screen on my headunit gets interferance as in little lines all across the screen but it only happens with the lights on so i have to spend more time to fix that, I should have it fixed by the end of the week, but i will put up another video today so you can see the steering controls and the install wires and what not...

All in all i'm so glad i did it cause the sound is amazing...
