Electrical Malfunctions

Hello everyone,
Im curious, Ive had the check engine light come on and off 2 times in the last 3 weeks. At first I thought it was the gas cap, but that was on tight.

I also noticed that the left turn signal has begun flashing at a much faster pace than normal. I am not sure if this is a sign of a failing bulb or circuit.

The question: Could something as simple as a shorting bulb cause the maintenance light to come on and off?

The check engine light is not related to your turn signal.

You most likely have a burnt out bulb in the turn signal causing it to flash faster. This is the warning system for cars these days.

Get the code from the check engine and let us know what it is. We can guide you with repairs needed for that if we know the code(s).

02 sensor? That's what I think of everytime that damn light comes on, I've been right 4 times so far. Mine stayed on though, so it may be something else. Get it scanned and comeback, there's ton of info and some really helpful people on here. I'm pretty sure Autozone will scan it for free if there's one near you.

those bulbs on 5th gens tend to have bad connections, my friend had this problem too.

There is a STICKY titled "Sticky: SES/Check Engine Codes, O2 Sensor Locations and Codes, and TSB's inside.... "

It will tell you all you need to know about figuring out why your light is on.
