Running lamps, interior lights don't work

More trouble from the 2K2 HIDs. Just helped Myktek install his and they work fine (at least they did when he left ) We had to take my lights out to figure out the wiring when we couldn't get his to work. I reconnected everything when we were done, but now none of the side markers work, the running lamps don't work, and when the headlights are on, the interior lights on the dash don't work. The interior lights also don't fade when you have the headlights on. The dome and step lights work fine. Any ideas what to do? Only change is we installed PIAA Xtreme white H3s in my fog lights. The grounds in the foglight assembly were kind of tricky, maybe we didn't get them in right?

Was too tired to check into it. All the connections look right so I'm not sure how much more we could have done to fix it. Maybe I blew a fuse or damaged something. I'm probably gonna take it in to the dealer on Monday and have them look at it. I've had enough of messing with wires and my fingertips hurt

Oh yeah, we didn't check to see if your headlights are aligned correctly with the wall. See if you get flashed by another driver for "high-beaming" them.

For sure tanmann, you got the fuse for the running/interior dash lights out.

You must have by accidently shorted it out during the install.

Check the fuse inside and see

Any idea which fuse it is? I'll check, but if they aren't labelled..
Thanks for the information.

No idea, they are labeled though, on the back cover of the fuse panel.

yeah...

I hope you disconnected neg battery while doing the install. I mean you can do without, but you have to be more careful. one of the most obvious things people do it cut all the wires at once. zapppp... they will short. (in theory, no power would be on the lights tho).

It does sound like you have something seriously crossed.

Problem solved

Hey hey,

Everything is back to normal. It was a broken fuse that caused the problem. The fuse was in the engine compartment and was labelled TAIL LAMP. Strange, since the taillights worked fine (I think though I can't remember if I checked). Replaced the fuse and everything works great now. Thanks for the help, BigDogJonx, you're a great resource to Maxima owners!

TimW: I always unplug the negative terminal on the battery before doing work on the car. It sucks having to reprogram the presets on my stereo though. Ehehe
