custom gauge "pod"

Ok, I decided a while back that I wanted to try the SSIM (Secret Sauce Intake Manifold) and the BBMAF ( Big Bore Mass Air Flow Sensor). But to do these mods correctly you need to monitor air fuel ratios and program a piggy back accordingly. After checking out the available options I went with the zeitronix zt-2. It isn't the best one out there but I think it is the easiest to use because it graphs out air and fuel vs rpm with no addons. Even comes with the software you need.

I also wanted to put a shift light in the car. But I didn't want to look ricey and buy one of those huge *** tachometers with a big *** shift light on it. Going for the sleeper look so this doesn't work for me. So I came across this. For less than 60 bucks. The Harlan shift light, 3" long 1" diameter. Very stealthy.

Now my dilemma. Where to put these things? They don't make double gauge pods for our car. I didn't want a triple, I have no use for 3 extra gauges and again looks a little ricey and not very stealthy. So i found this vumaxx gauge pod for <20 bucks

.

Then I made this at work out of 6061 aluminum

And I made this at work, again out of 6061 aluminum

And then I put it all together.

The pop can is to simulate the driver side pillar. But as you can see from all the little gizmos that came with the gauge pod I have lot's more options for installation. The pillar may or may not work for me, I won't know until the morning when I put everything in the car and try it out. Of course the wideband gauge and the shift light are both blue leds to match all the other blue lighting in the car.

and the finish product installed

Took most of the day, I had to change my mind about a few things on how this would be installed. The hose clamp that came with the pod was a POS, so I wnet out and bought a proper one. Took it for a drive and I have to say that at night the shift light is uberbright!

neat...how does the wideband work? are you happy with it? never heard much about that brand...

my opinion on it.. it would look much sleeker if the aluminum was painted black to match your black interior

I have made a few pieces for other people. Depends on how complicated. If you have sketches of what you want I can take a look.
