Illumina/ S. Tech

I just picked up a 03 black on black 6spd about a month ago and the suspension was beatttt. Every time the car hit a bump the front end slams real hard. A couple weeks ago I did the Illumina/S. Tech combo and replaced the strut mounting kits in the front. When I went for the test drive the front end still slams (not as bad but....bad) on bumps but not the rear with the struts set to 4 in rear n 4 in front (1-5,softest-hardest). So I changed the front struts to 2 and it got a little bit better but still no good. I put the agx/s.techs on my 4th gen and had noo problems like this. Anybody ever run into this?...and the passenger front struts hits bumps harder than the driver side front..

S-Techs are just a very poor choice of spring for the A33. You're going to bottom out no matter what you do.

I have S-Techs and have the same issues. Either switch springs or memorize every pothole location. I chose the latter.

I have the H techs with illuminas and that set up rides great but Im not as low either. I hear alot of people complain about the ride with s techs no matter what springs they have. Cutting your bump stops will help but its not going to make the problem go away 100 percent. I had my front at 4 and it slamed hard at some bad spots on the road. I set it to 3 and it made a huge diffrence. Im now at 3 front 4 rear and I think its great. The front could stand to be a bit stiffer but then you feel all the bumps pretty hard.

No i didn't cut the bump stops. It doesn't feel like the cars bottoming out. It feels more like real loose when it slams even the smallest of bumps/indentations. Also the right sard seems to hit bumps alittle bit harder. Idk why the S. Techs suck soo much on the a33 and are awesome on the 4th gen(except for cv joints). Anyway guess I'm gonna be in for a loose bumpy ride.

tein spring rates are probably too soft for the amount that it drops the car or maybe it is installer error

? I have s techs/stock struts and the ride is lovely. I've nver bottomed out, but I do drive my car like it's a lowered car and not like it's a jeep, meaning I go slow over bumps and such.

Honestly the ride is too smooth, I want to upgrade to the illuminas for a stiffer ride and better handling.

You're practically on the bump stops already, and the spring rates for the S-Techs are pretty soft. Doesn't take much. I know when I had them that I could feel the slightest ripple in the pavement that I never would have known was there before.
