So today i was late to school and i was caught on a redlight as soon as it hit green i gave it full gas didnt get to redline but i was at 6k rpm or so shifted to second then THE LIGHT came on and i just let off everything sounds fine and its running good i went to checkers and they checked and told me it was the camshaft sensor could it be false alarm or something, should i take any precautions?

 

Have you replaced your MAF lately by chance?

no havent replaced maf and i just replace the 02 sensor(bank1 sensor2)

 

have them reset it and if she pops up again you should look further into it. If i remember correctly a malfunction of the camshaft position sensor causes a total engine shutdown...

maybe it lost signal for a second when you got way up in the rpm's which triggered the cel but not a shutdown. In the mean time you might want to do a general check of the conections

Keep an eye out on your MAF. I had the same problem and the CEL just shut off on me also. BUT after a few weeks rpm kept shifting to second, less and less between 5k and redline. It became more pronounced and I got a P0171. So I got a MAF and bad-da-bing, bad-da-boom!!! Smooth as a whistle.
