$800+ Bass Controller?
$800+ Bass Controller?
Guys,
A while back my bass/sub will go out when driving and it seems like a loose connection. When I accelerate or break or turn right or left the bass can come in or go out.
Well, I had some time to kill, I was close and wanted a good chuckle so I went to the dealer. He said that I had a bass controller, part # 28130 24900 that is bad. It would cost something like $824 for it to be replaced.
I cannot find this part number anywhere. Anyone ever heard of ths?
(is there an I HATE BOSE! crew?)
Thanks, Les
also, is the audio setup the same in a Max?

nope. i don't think anyone makes them. it's very likely you could use someone else's AEs and make em fit. like the DDE's i have i coudl probably get into your housings but they will not look 'good' up close. from 5 feet away they would look fine though...i'd say i'd experiment for you but i have no spare I35 headlight.

they do make these for your car but they look cheap and probably suck.
edit: 5.5 gens are known to have the subwoofer cut out happen to them all the time. replacing the woofer fixes it. try ebay?

one option would be replacing the LEDs with super brights and or more LEDs. i could easily do that. but again i doubt it's what you're looking for.
n3985 you have those lights now right? did u get some dark chrome version or tint the light? just curious. and as always i love your ****ing car.
edit: instead of replacing the subwoofer, as i'd bet money thats what is going wrong with it, you could just buy a subwoofer and amp. probably be about the same price as another woofer and you'll have much better output/sound quality. i have a nice 10'' i could part with...just an idea

For your sub all you need to do is send the sub amp to carstereohelp.com
For $120 they will fix it and give you a lifetime warranty on the work.
I got mine done there about a yr and a half ago and have not had the sub cut off since!

The black box trick worked on the early 5th gen subs. The later models came without this black box.
The black box basically housed the power circuit for the sub amp which was then incorporated into the amp PCB itself.
I know you can also get a used one for $50 but mid you these are known to go and will go on the long run. For peace of mind its better to fix it once and for all!
good luck

Thanks guys. I think I am going to look into getting it all yanked out and replacing it all.
Maybe an inside insurance job! (I did not really mean that)

edit:I have hearing damage from car stereos back in high school. 4 12" kickers with 1000w Phoenix Gold amp. My hearing sucks. I'm not looking to go all out this time at all.
