ae heater button left of dash

I've looked through the owners manual (downloaded online). I've searched. I've experimented. Still don't know what the button to the left of the steering wheel of my new to me AE does. Looks like the seat heater buttons that are in the center console. Do AE's have rear seat heaters?

Nope, not that button. It the same as the seat heater buttons, but turned on it's side. It's directly above the power mirror control. I'll take a pic tomorrow. I just noticed tonight that the light on the switch doesn't illuminate when you switch it.

OEM fogs are the only lights. I don't notice any electrical accessories on the car.

Looks like your seat heater button, but whats it doing up there? Does your passenger seat have a seat heater?

Switches for both factory front seats are in the center console closer to the driver side. About where your right thigh would be when sitting in the seat. Both there, both work.

Try opening it up to see what it is wired to. That's very odd.

Looks like the previous owner rigged something up using a seat heater switch.

+1 i was gonna say that. If it were for a heated steering wheel, it would'nt have 3 settings (low-off-high). It would be a spring switch to switch it on and off..

I was thinking the auto seat (when the key is out of the ignition, the seat goes back) but that too is a simple 2 setting switch (cancel-auto).

Your cruise control buttons are on the steering wheel, correct?

All points back to the previous owner rigging something up.

Does the button light up when its set to low or high?

Or maybe the previous owner wanted the seatback heated as well and added the elements and a switch

Probably not but if it was factory it'd be orientated properly which it isn't.

Pulled the switch out. It's a pre-heater for the blinker fluid.

Who know's why it is there. I'll order a blank for there next time I order some parts.

Thanks org

i have never seen that button just like everyone else here, but did anyone notice the the button is sitting in sitting (framed) in a recessed area with the gauge light dial, as much as i want to think that the previous owner put this switch in (which he mite have just changed it out for the seat labeled button) it looks like it came from the factory with 2 button in that area

What is in that spot on other AE's?

Haven't searched for this, but is there a site or something that shows the available options for AE's? What were the choices?

On my AE the two buttons to the left of the steering wheel are very useful! The first one is for when my wife is nagging while I'm driving, it powers off the nagging! The second is a back up button (we all know buttons in Nissans are notorious for not working) in case it does not power off the nagging, then you just push the second button and waalah, eject passenger seat button!

Eject. Then Shift!

there's nothing in that spot on mine. there's a dash dimmer switch, but nothing next to it like in the pictures. It has to be wired up to 'something' in the car, no idea what, though.

While we're talking AE switches... Just got one, wondering if I had heated mirrors, but saw no switch (just L/R ****). Am I correct that if I did, the switch would look like this (above?)

The switch had no wires connected to it. I was just stuck in there with nothing attached. Who knows why.

I would hazard a guess that the previous owner drill a hole in the hole cover and had some accessory there. He sold the car but kept the accessory, so he put that switch there to block the hole.

No thats not what it would look like in your car, i just took that picture off of the internet. But if you did have heated mirrors it would look something like that i would assume..
