Helllllp!!!!!! Please!!! Service Engine Light!
Help guys, I ran my 2k2 maxima at the track tonight, and on the 5th run, i hit rev limiter a long time, because i tree shifted and i forgot to shift!!! (im a LOSER! ) and the car went into limp mode, it was still idling, but i couldnt give it any gas, and so i shut it off for 20 mins, and it started right back up, a little boggy at first then it was normal again, all acceleration and throttle response is the same, no vibrations, but the service engine light soon stays lit, whats up? I know my motor will never be the same again! i must have hit rev limiter a long time to make it shut off, but im glad i didnt blow the motor, thank god its all electronic and a$$ proof!, any input or similar experience advice WANTED , PLEASE!
Iam taking it to the dealer at 8am - 7 hrs from NOW. Thanks in advance!

-automagic
-drop in K&N filter
-3300 miles
-over half tank of gas
-no spare tire/jack

Ahhh thats nothing, just reset the light by removing the negative cable off the battery overnight. It will reset. If it comes back, then take it to the dealer.

But in 02MaximaSE, he might of blown a sensor or maybe worse!!! But I doubt it!!!

yea, as far as i know, I was merging onto traffic on the interstate and then the car just stopped responding, it didnt want to up shift, and i almost got rear ended by a semi truck, and my car was in gear obviously, and now the service engine light is on....

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It went into safe mode, but just unhook the battery for a few hours. That should clear any codes. If that doesn't work, then go and show it to the dealer.
By the way, that is a really good 1/4 mi time

I want to do a better time but now im scared to run it!
BTW, if my auto ran 14.73 with almost full gas, what would a 6-speed DO with barely any?!

UPDATE.
just came back from the dealer, the code which came up was P0228 Engine; It had NO explaination, and the code book had nothing to say, the TECH said this was the 3rd time he saw the code, all previous cars which had the code were 5spd's which hit the rev limiter, there was no detrimental damage, spark plugs showed NO signs of foul or detonation, the electronically controlled throttle shuts off when rev's carry past 6600 rpm or so. and the option on the diagnosis computer was .. press Enter to clear. nothing further
Im due for an oil change next week (my second @3300 miles) and they will further check for codes (as per warranty). The light was reset.
[straight six]
60 ft time was 2.192..
brake torque at 1,500 rpm
next week at the track... very low gas, and front's mounted with 15 inch 4th gen rims if they fit.. and no spare or jack, and NO more over-rev's
