well i guess i wont argue with the longevity end as they are still new and ive only had them a couple months. but as far as comparison ive had the teins ss, the s-techs,h-techs,eibachs,maxspeed,h&rs,k-sports, blues and illuminas. i think i am in a good place to compare. the ones i want are outta reach (budget) jics a2 vips.

And I thought I was riding them soft, lol. 10F 12R.

I think my ride height is approx 25 1/4" all round from fender to ground.

Wow Joel. Ok, I am soft on them. I was wanting to get the EDFC so I just left them in the middle till then after install. I'm auto-x'ing this weekend, and need to find a good setup for that. Do you think 10/12 is a good setting on the course? Should I go stiffer? Thanks mang.

I'm not going to pretend that I know much about auto-x, but from my experience with these, I would think you want to be at least in the 16 range, or even more. It also depends on the course set-up, but regardless, I'd guess stiffer is better (no h0m0). What sort of event is this anyway?

It is just a unit that wires up to allow you to adjust the damping settings using a remote of sorts as opposed to opening the hood/trunk and manually turning the dials. That's essentially all you need to know.

It's the 1st SCCA event down here taking place at Carowinds. I haven't ran in over a year, and now with my new setup I'm gonna take her by the reins and see what I can do. More than 16? 16 is the highest adjustment for the Teins SS's. I need exact numbers here Mr. no h0m0!

Description:

The EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller) makes it possible for the driver to control the damping force at the touch of a button while in the driver's seat. This is accomplished by controlling stepping motors installed on each shock absorber. Because the damping force can be controlled with such ease, the driver can adjust the suspension to suit all road/track conditions. Thus allowing the driver to fully enjoy the driving experience.

Mine are special editions.

Actually, I thought max was 24.

Like I said, I have no auto-x experience, so maybe at least 12?

Well I haven't experienced anything outside of 8 all around so I'm gonna try your 10F/12R. If my ish get's messed up I'm coming back up in this piece and you'll be reading an eyeful!!!

5 on Illumina's is the highest setting, so in the Tein SS Coilovers world 16 would be comparable. Then again it might be stiffer then the Illumina's or softer since I haven't tried it myself.

Been in my friends 5th gen with Tein SS and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sold on the Teins. When I get coilovers, its probably teins or JIC.

The compression damping is hard to compare just by riding in it because of the different spring rates. You'd really need a shock dyno to know. From my experimentation, 12/12 on the Teins sort of felt like 4/4 on the Illuminas, maybe I'll crank them up to 16/16 this weekend and see.
