I'm pretty sure there is something different about the wheels, enough that spacers are required. Search or don't but that's what I recall seeing about the 00-01's.

Can anyone else confirm this? I need to know if I can pick up some 6th gen rotors or if I have to replace them with the same size that I have now.

First check your wheel clearance to make sure you have enough room for the brakes to fit. Measure from the center of your wheel to the inside of it, and if you don't have at LEAST 7 5/8" these brakes will not fit on your car...they do fit the 5.5 gen 17" SE wheels like a glove, but they don't fit with the 5.0 gen SE 17s...

Does anyone know if all the 6th gen calipers and rotors are the same or is there any difference among them?
I don't think there's any difference but I can't find anything stating this.
I'm sure DaveB will know but just thought I'd ask.

The caliper changed starting 05/04, as for the rotor, I'm seeing multiple part numbers and crossovers for production dates.

Dave B may know the exact changes, I just know that there are changes.

Hey folks, can someone confirm for me that 04-07 calipers and rotors are all the same (different part numbers on the calipers at least but i've been told its only the finish)? I am trying to line up some parts and put in orders today.

It's only the finish on the calipers. Went from army green to dull black.

Thanks. I'm getting some 07 calipers with 36k on them, now to find some rotors and pads....

I got some rotors off a 06 altima SER with 50k on them, he switched to slotted...would it be okay if used my stock 5.5 gen calipers, lines on the 6th gen brakes? because i only have the rotors for now...

???

vastmax 07-19-2009 06:26 AM

buying used rotors just doesnt sound like a great idea. I think i paid $80 for 2 brand new zinc coated blank rotors.

jus dont get oem pads.. they will make the rotors warp. somethings about the pad material. youre better off just gettin new rotors. imo. ive got akebono proact pads in the front. has a nice bite to it. no noise and low dusting.

I have had akebono, Hawks and OEM pads and they all do a good job on my 2k2 se IMHO improper torquing is the cause of warped rotors

Any difference doing this to a 5th gen vs a 5.5 gen?

As much as a difference as bumping an old thread to get 15 posts. :squint:

The 5th gen has even smaller brakes than the 5.5 gen, so I'd imagine, theoretically, it would be more of an improvement. Either way, vague/short and not really a good question to ask in a dead year old thread.

I could care less about how many post I have!! Just looking for some good insight.

I figured a thread that is specifically geared towards my question and is a sticky thread that many still see, would be a great place to ask it. Thanks for the heads and for the attempting to answer my questions.

Jeff5347 has a very good "how to" for this conversion I was thinking of following, but it is for a 5.5 and I have a 5th gen. I was thinking of starting it asap but was hoping to find out if I am missing any important details or parts specific for my year.

The information found in the stickies, etc. Rule = if you have 17" 00-01 SE wheels, they wont fit w/o a spacer. Thought you would know ...

Other than that, the exact same procedure follows as the 02-03.

That is all.
