Weird Stalling Problem
My dads 5th gen is far from low miles, but its in excellent condition other wise. We have been having a odd problem with it lately though. Before the car is warmed up, it seems to stall with anything more than 75% throttle. It doesn't completely stall, just gets extremely jerky (like the fuel is being cut on and off). Once the car is at operating temp it runs strong with no issues.
So:
-2002 Auto 5th gen
-215K miles
-Stalls cold with throttle above 75%.
-The SES light comes on when it stalls.
-The code immediately disappears 30 seconds or so after.
-When the car is warm, it runs strong with no stalling.
What I have checked and ruled out thus far
-Plugs are NGK stock, with 2000 miles.
-Coils are reading fine with voltmeter.
-Ive put fuel system cleaner through.
Only mod on the car is a Injen Intake.
I am currently trying to track down a MAF sensor to try out. My dad believes it has jumped timing, which i promptly reminded him that it has a chain. I was wondering if the ecu could be advancing/retarding timing?
Anyone have this issue and solution?

I bet you pull a P0340 code. Mine does the same thing when cold, hit the gas hard and the car jerks, then feels like the computer is limiting acceleration. Turn the car off and it drives perfect after that. Never get an SES light but just a pending P0340 code, which is the bank 1 camshaft position sensor-which was replaced under warranty at 43,000 miles and then again by me at around 127,000 miles. As long as I limit acceleration when the engine is cold, no problems at all. Still have yet to figure out exactly what the problem is, so if you figure it out before me, post what the fix is.

Yeah, I did too. Still have the problem. I deal with it the same way as this old joke:
Patient: Doctor, my arm hurts when I move it like this.
Doctor: Don't move your arm like that then.
Getting on the gas hard when the engine isn't fully warmed up causes the problem, so I don't get on the gas hard when the engine isn't fully warmed up.
