i know this question might have come up before, but i cant decide, is the Cosmo anything like the Injen CAI? And also do you guys recommend that brand, and will the CAI make more power even though i live in sunny LA(we hardly get rain)

thanks

in regards to your question of cosmo being like an injen:
if the intake puts the filter right in front of the radiator, then yes it will be like an injen.

and please, for the love of god...search. there are SO MANY threads about intakes and the pros and cons of cai/wai....

be a pioneer.

edit:
however i would be wary of using that filter. just buy a maf adapter and buy a k&n filter and throw it on there for a wai.

a cai and wai arent really good investments in terms of performance mods with either you gain top end and lose low end or visa versa and end up with pretty much the same 1/4 mile time. what they are best at is making your intake growl.

if you want some real bang for your buck get a y-pipe

ohh okay, well i want that growl too, ill be getting a warpspeed y pipe soon too, so really an injen type cai will do just as good as a berk? But i heard the berk makes more noise.

definetly agree! i baught a maf adaptor and just threw a filter in it its amazing and very inexpensive i spent like maybe 40 bucks on the filter adaptor and bolts.you have to be a little creative on making a brace to hold it up but its soo much cheaper than buying a full cai or droping 140 on the stillen kit. the performance is the same as it would be for anything else deep and the throttle is much more responsive. k&N or weapon is a great choice of filter.

the cosmo is really cheap, i had it on my car for a while, the filter is in a bad spot, and my car never really liked it. it would stumble and die sometimes, i went back to stock for a while and wouldnt go to an intake like that again.

I say go custom short ram, Berk, JWT pop charger, or GAB. Don't bother with the Cosmo/Injen.

If you can still find a Place Racing CAI, which has been discontinued, that's good too.

As far as I know, the GAB has been dyno proven to gain more than a WAI or CAI, + 9 whp is what Nmexmax saw when he tested it.

Also, you'd be surprised how the GAB will sound. It's free and reversible, might as well give it a shot.

No, no tuning was done between those runs. He installed his SAFC months after. Why else would we be saying it is a straight 9 whp gain?

Here, post 17 on:

I think that was later... when he went from 233 to 242 or something with the Landrover MAF and some tuning.

I used to have an Injen CAI. I hated it. The filter was in the worst place possible. In order to remove it, one needs to raise the left front part of the car to get underneath it. It was a hassle. I got rid of it.

BERK SHORT RAM FTW!!!

puts the filter right behind the radiator..on a hot summer day, kinda defeats the purpose of a "cold" air intake...

Fail.

The filter is not in the airflow of the radiator.
