5sp cruise control question/problem

I noticed this for the first time yesterday.

If I am in 5th and have cruise on and downshift to (don't hit brake)4th and then back up to 5th, my resume will not work.

If I hit the brake before doing the above, resume will work.

If I just push in the clutch (don't down shift) resume will work.

Anyone know if this is the way it is supposed to work??

Thanks

cruise

Ha!

I have been working 2 hours from my house this past week. So with 4 hours of highway driving each day, I noticed that several times when I hit the resume button it did not work. It became my "mission" on the way home yesterday to figure it out!

My guess is that RESUME only works if you are in the same programmed gear...so since you shifted down to 4th, it "erased" the memory.

I tested it on mine (build Dec 16, 1999; original ECU code) and could not reproduce the problem. The tests I performed were: 2nd gear, 40KPH engage cruise, shift to 3rd hit accel, shift to 4th hit accel, shift to 5th hit accel. In all shifts the cruise re-engaged. I did not test to see if the speed came back to programmed.

I also did a 5th, to 4th hit accel, back to 5th hit accel and the cruise re-engaged.

One this that must be said and that is a PITA is that when you cancel (brake, clutch or button) and hit accel you will loose +- 1 MPH.

Well if bert tested it, then there must be soemthing wrong with your cruise control system, get it checked.
