Upgraded Headlight Harness

Is an upgraded headlight harness hard to install? Do I have to cut any wires or anything else? Is it easy for someone who knows some stuff about wiring (but not a whole lot)? Oh yea, and have your headlights gotten brighter with a better harness? Thanks!!

It's more than likely a waste of money. The stock harness has enough capacity left in it, you would probably damage the housing from the additional heat generated by some high wattage bulbs before frying the harness.

EXACTLY, people dont seem to understand the amount of load the stock harness can take before you ACTUALLY fry the insulation off. Many people "claim" to have burned their harnesses, but I have yet to see one, plus if they did burn them, they must have had it wired incorrectly.

I can put a 110watt load on my stock wire, with the STOCK fuse still in its place, and still dont come close to burning the insulation. That wire is capable of taking a 150watt load before you even begin to heat the wire to burning the insulation.

Not true. I melted my stock harness using Eaglite 110W bulbs. Not the wire but just the hard black plastic "plug". A good harness upgrade does not draw power from the stock harness. The stock harness will now act as a switch for the new harness. The new upgraded harness will draw current directly from the battery. There are some crappy harness upgrades out there that only act as in inline fuse. These only add to the heat and resistance that will build up in this wiring system. I'm now running stock bulbs again.

it's usually the extra heat output from the halogen bulb that "frys" or "melts" things.. not the heat that is created by flowing more electricity through the wires.. that's why when people assume they've fried their wires, the melted part of the insulation is usually the closest to the bulb...

That totally makes sense, but bottom line, don't use these things!
