removing the c/v axles help

I read the how to post, got the chiltons manual
removed the axle bolts, cotterpin, shock bolts, abs wire, ball joints, took axle out the wheels both sides. I removed the 3 bolts on the passanger side c/v axle bracket.
I was thinking this isnt that bad of a repair

then I couldnt remove the passangers side axle..
I pulled, pryed, prodded, and almost pooped the pants from trying to pull it out of the tranny. It must be rusted in bracket?

the drivers side is supposed to come after the passanger
(thats what the manual said the car is an automatic)
so I didnt try to remove the divers side

any sugggestions

I shouldn't matter which one comes out first. Your probably on the right track with it being rusted in the bracket. Had the same problem, and I ended up removing the bracket--then dealt with the rust off the car--reattached the bracket--then the axle during re-assmbly. Good luck.

get a pry bar put it between the bracket and the joint and with a hammer get the pry bar between the two so you can have a lil leverge.. also make sure the bracket is unscrewed...

OP is talking about the passenger side not the drivers side. Drivers side is easy, put a pry bar between the axle and the tranny and "POP" it out. Sometimes the lock ring gets stuck so you might need to use more force.

The passenger side axle usually gives some problems, I always spray a ton of penetrating liquid (WD-40) on the bracket, let it sit for a bit, then take a dull chisel and hit on one of the three "ears" of the axle to get it to twist over. Once you get it to turn over, use a pry bar to pry between the "ears".

If this doesn't work, then you'll have no choice but to remove the axle with the bracket.
