Transmission?

I just bought a 2001 Max SE auto, and the tranny shifts a little rough in first and second. I don't want to get a tranny flush because i have a 145k on it and i head if you get one it could make matters worse. Is there any other options?

Drain and fill with a quality fluid, or replace via the cooler lines.

Do you mean a rough shift from 1-2? That's normal on the higher mileage cars.

Personally I wouldn't do a flush period, but that's all personal preference.

Just so a drain and fill once a month until the fluid is red again. First one I did on my car when I got it, the ATF was nearly black but unburnt. Just kept doing drain and fills (higher mileage, didn't want to flush it either) and now with 146,600 miles, my car shifts fine.
