Solder, crimp or caps?

I need to wire in a new pigtail to my engine harness for the maf. Does it make any difference which method I use to connect the wires? I have heard somewhere that solder can impede the current a bit.

Just crimp on the proper size butt connectors, and then either seal it up with either electrical tape, or shrink wrap tubing to keep the elements out and you'll be fine.

Unless you really know how to solder, use crimp lugs and heat shrink.

It's one of the only ways to get a good weatherproof seal.

A bad solder job is way worse than using crimps.

Another good method for small wire gauges if you can find them is Scotchlocks.

They are like crimps where both wires go in one side and you push down a plastic button which makes the connection. They have a conductive caulk inside them that keeops them good in any weather. Phone and cable companies use them outside for all their connections and don't use any heatshrink or anyting else unless the connection is underground or constantly wet.

Good Luck.

ive crimped and capped things before and thats ok for inside the car where you wont get the elements touching them, but i found most stuff done where the weather can get at it plus vibrations i have soley done soldering. much better connection thats less able to seperate

Scotchlok

I repeat, don't solder unless you know how.
