Car keeps shutting off randomly..HELP.

Its a 01 maxima 5speed.. it dies on me even if im on the highway or taking off? i noticed when the car is moving and you rev it in neutral about 2500+ rpm and let off and it drops down to about 400 sometimes it keeps going down till it cuts off and sometimes it gets back to idle..
Any idea of what the problem may be??..just incase this might help it also has a CEL..

-THANKS

get the code, it can usually be broken down further after you get the code into a few smaller things that you can do yourself to correct it.
Post the code whenever u get it read.

sounds like my problem.

car wouldn't start in the winter so we replaced o2 sensors, cat, maf, and alternator.

ever since then, my car will die on idle.

ive been told it's the iacv

Sounds like your MAF. Mine did the same thing when my sensor went bad. Except it set a rev limiter at 2500 RPM.

It may also be your cam timing sensor. I had that code get pulled when I put Slick50 treatment in my oil. It ran real rough at about 200-400 RPM at idle...but mine never stalled out.

My bet is either on the MAF or IACV. Read up in this thread: http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...-stalling.html.
