Now, for all those 5th and 5.5 gens out there, if your max is staggered, what did you do to keep the tires from hitting the fender? i installed my 18" G35 rims this week. I know the tires are 245/45/18 in the rear but what do you guys do with the wider rims in the back? i am planning on buying smaller tires later but until then...i would appreciate your input.

What you need to do is grind down the mounting point for the rear bumper where it meets with the quarter panel. It's inside the wheel well and protrudes quite a bit. Jack the car up and look where the bumper meets the quarter panel and you can't miss it. I can now use my spacers with minimal rub (only on the most extreme bumps with weight in the back does it rub)
Do you have spacers? I also have 245/45/18 all the way around and without my 25mm spacers, my wheels didn't rub. The offset is slightly less aggressive on my wheels, which could be why..

Yeah, i did notice that panal sticking out when i just checked. I will grind it down later today when im off work and see if that helps. Thanks...
Usually the problem is resolved by rolling the rear fenders lips. I just did it to my 4th gen. The front fender lips on 4th gens are rolled up from the factory but the rears are at a right angle to the body. Find someone locally who is willing to loan/rent you a fender roller. It's a very easy process.
