START-UP ISSUES - MECHANIC THINKS FLYWHEEL. THOUGHTS?
The past few weeks I've been having some start-up issues. In short, sometimes the engine will turn over, sometimes it won't. It's like a 50/50 shot. I checked all the things that I could think of. The starter and battery are brand new, and the switch for the clutch pedal is fine. It doesn't usually happen on a cold start; but more so if I'm starting up again after driving for a while, like gassing up or something like that. So baffled, I took it to my mechanic, and he said it's most likely the flywheel - the teeth are apparently worn in a few spots and if the starter catches those spots, no dice.
I should have thought of this earlier, but didn't think of it in my frustration - can you diagnose a bad flywheel without looking at it? Because I know damn well he didn't pull anything apart to inspect the clutch and flywheel.
I'm currently running a JWT flywheel. Did some searching, and didn't turn up much on bad flywheels, so I'm not sure if this is a common problem, or if there has been anyone else who has had this issue.
The past few days I've had no issues with start-up. Maybe just coincidence. Is there anything else I should rule out before tackling the flywheel?
Please chime in with any advice or info. Thanks in advance!

By 'turn over' are you referring to cranking or starting? Generally it's regarded as starting.
You don't need to remove the flywheel to inspect the ring gear, it's plainly visible.
If you mean cranking, do you hear the starter try to spin when it won't crank (doesn't sound like it, given you mention the clutch switch)? If not, it's either the starter itself or electrical (relay going out when it warms up, etc).

FIrst thing I'd check is the ignition switch, or it could be a faulty clutch switch. inhibit relay, etc.
He's only got one crank sensor, and two cam sensors. If the engine won't physically crank over, then the CKPS/CPS' are the least of his worries.
your right, i got those two mixed. when i had problem mine cranked, but didn't start. you might have to Have a mechanic from Nissan to break it down...sorry about that bro...i know the feeling.
