So I just got done with installing a brand new ecu into my maxima, the old one burnt up, someone suggested i need to install 2 5 amp fuses on the wire harness of my IACV so I did that too last night, after reinstalling the air intake boxes and wires and battery I went to crank the key and it cranks, I can hear the starter going but it won't turn over and start. I hear I'm supposed to re-program my keys to the new computer but I haven't done that because I'm not 100% positive it is necessary, I would think if they keys were wrong the car wouldnt even crank like it was right now, would it? Or is that the problem right now that the keys mismatch the ecu and thats why its not starting, just cranking. I would have thought a security light or something would light on the dash but it doesnt. The other problem I figured (after checking the fuel pump, the injectors, and spark plugs for power which all passed) is that the 2 new 5 amp fuses I installed on each red wire for the IACV popped. I replaced them with 2 more 5 amps, turned the key to on, and POP, does that mean my IACV is bad and most likely the culprit that fried up my old ECM/ECU? Do I need to replace that and do you think my car will start after, or do I still have to do something with reprogramming the keys? It looks like the dealer wants almost $250 for a small valve?!?!? thats insane, I didn't pay that much for the ECU. I want to try putting 2 7.5 amp fuses and see if they hold, I fear 2 10amps will be too much and might risk burning up the new ECU I just installed. What should I do guys? thanks

Your keys would need to be reprogrammed to match the new ECM.

If your old ECM idle chip is fried, you need to replace the IACV.

I repaired the ECU and I left in the old IACV just to have the chip get fried again.

is the engine cranking and not starting a sign the keys need to be programmed, i thought the engine wouldnt crank at all if the keys were bad.

and thanks for that link it looks real useful in my case

Your security light will be lit with the key in ON or start positions if you haven't had it programmed.

The car will crank without the correct key, NATS just disables the injectors.

A little searching would show you that it is absolutely necessary to have a new ECU reprogrammed for existing keys if you ever want the car to run.

You might want to send in your old ECU to get repaired.

There are 2 competing rebuilders on eBay, who keep dropping their prices. I have no idea what kind of quality repair they offer, but their price is around $75.00. I would think it is a lot cheaper then getting 3 keys reprogrammed.

This is just a suggesting. I have no interest in any of the vendors.

i got a locksmith that came out to my job and programmed my uncut 3rd key for me when i installed my remote start years ago, i hope hes still in business, only charged me $40 at the time...

...also i contacted those ebay repairers and sent them pics and they said they could not repair my ecu because it was too burnt. i already got the new ecu in anyhow and dropped 150 on it i need a new iacv valve but cant find a cheap place to get one

I picked up the IACV from an eBay vendor for $159 + 9.50 for shipping. Just do a search for maxima idle.

The IACV did not come with the gasket 16618-A33B007.

The part looks a lot like the original, because it probably is OE but I don’t know it as a fact.
