Maxima AE seems to pull

Hello all,

My Max AE with 17” rims seems to pull. I cannot drive the car without continuously moving the steering wheel. I took it to the local dealer, and the service advisor said it’s because of the bigger rims. Is it true? Thanks in advance.

It's not because of your 17' rims, a million other people have maximas with 17's, including my self and the car track's fine. I would check the car's allignment and tires.

Uh, does the dealer realize that all new SE Maximas now ship from the factory with 17" rims??

I'd try the alignment, but if that doesn't fix the problem, you might try rotating the tires. If your tires are not uni-directional, you may be able to swap just the front tires - some tires develop "radial pull".

As UMD said, alignment would definetly be a good place to start.

When you say continous, do you mean light corrections or large movements? cause the max tends to have a slightly vague center and does require a little attention when cruising.

But as everyone else has said that has absolutely nothing to do with 17in tires. Tell your dealer he's an idiot! Where do they come up with these explanations. It's like when my oil pump failed they guys claimed the fstb was partly responsible.

Same Problem

My 01 SE has the same problem, it pulls to the left very slightly even when cruising. Since the car only has 7000 miles on it, I took it to the local Nissan dealer. Without even looking at the car, they told me that I need to pay $22.50 for a tire rotation before they would put the car on the machine. I protested and advised this has been happening from day one, so a mechanic test drove the car and said there was no problem, I protested again. I went with him on a 2nd test drive to prove to him that the car had an alignment problem. They finally agreed to fix the problem but their machine was broken again. Now two weeks later I'm still waiting for my alignment to be fixed, but at least they agreed to fix it at no charge.

That guy you talked to @ nissan needs to be hanged and shot cause he hasnt the slightest clue of what he is talking about! I have 18" rims w/ low profile tires and it does not pull! What you may need is an alignment and balance. If that doesnt work take it back to nissan ASAP!! Good Luck! By the way I also have an AE Max!
