my max revs to 6700 rpm
Most likely it was some slight 'tach lag'
that creates the impression u hit the cutoff at lower revs....in first gear the engine revs so quickly that some tachometer lag is likely. BMWs are very prone to this...other cars more or less so but to a degree, all cars demonstrate this in 1st gear.
Your tach is off same as mine...
I noticed that when I installed my shift light I couldn't get the rpms to match right. So, once I got my OBD-II software I noticed that the ECU is showing 300-400 LESS rpms than the tach. My tach reaches as high as 6700-6800 rpms even if I slowly increase till I bounce the rev limiter, where as the highest I've been able to consistenly record on my OBD-II is 6438 rpms.
Also, your speedometer is high by 2-3 mph at 60 compared to your ECU. SteVTEC claimed this is due to speeding ticket liability.
