What is up with the cruise control???

Is it normal for recent vintage Maxima cruise controls to pulse? The cruise on my old '91 Max was always rock steady. You never felt it working. The cruise on my 2k1 Max practically makes me seasick! Onnnnnn, off.....Onnnnnnnn, off.....Onnnnnnnn, off. And this is on flat, level interstate! It's like riding in a rocking chair. Pretty disappointing.

Nahhh...I can't buy that one. I've never experienced such an obvious rhythm to a cruise control before...in cars of similar and higher horsepower. This is like riding with my aunt...accelerate hard, slow down...accelerate hard, slow down.

I've noticed that too. I was driving through Ohio and it was doing that to me. Good to know that I'm not the only one with that.

I'm in Ohio and mine does it too Must be the roads... Just kidding. I thought that since I have a 5sp that maybe it was related to the fuel cut TSB, but I'm guessing thats not it, especially if it happens with automatics

Yeah I thought it may be related to the fuel cut issue too. Are you other guys auto?

It is worst when going up and down rolling hills. Like Thorzdad said seasick!

TPS...

Didnt you get the memo on the coverpages for the TPS reports??

No actually... The Fuel Cut TSB is the first place to look.. after that, look into your Throttle Postion Sensor. Thats commonly slightly out of spec and can do that I believe. Mine took some getting used to, but never made me seasick. Even after the TSB and TPS adjustment, it will be there.

matter of fact, if there are the problems, you should be able to set the cruise at 37-40mph and feel it really badly. thats the sweet spot thats not so sweet.
