A question to anyone here using Cryo rotors.

I've done a search and found some very old threads on the subject of Cryo rotors, but not much came up in the last year. I'm looking to replace my stock set of front rotors (88k miles on them) and I'm interested in the Cryo rotors at the Tire Rack. I've read all the testimonials and the marketing about 2-4 times longer rotor life, etc. I really would like to hear from other Maxima drivers on this.

I'm leaning towards Hawk HPS pads because of the good things I've read here, but I'm concerned about noise as this seems to plague these pads. Any thoughts or real world results with these would be greatly appreciated also. A link to the rotors I'm considering at Tire Rack:

I dont know anything about your rotor questions but I just put on the hawk pads about a month and a half ago. I cant say that I notice any noise but I like them overall. Not quite the stopping power I was expecting but still pretty damn good.

ive never used that brand before but ive run frozen rotors before, which are supposed to use an advanced cryo method to make them stronger, i ran them for a long time and was very very hard on them, and i never had any issues, and after several years they seemed like they brand new, expect that the area where the pad doesnt touch (04 slbk)ended up rusting really bad so i swapped to rtp rotors.

if they didnt look like garbage id still be running them.

but as far as actual braking i didnt really notice any difference in fade between the two, but i just did hard street driving so perhaps ud notice more ina track setting.

Unless you run it in the track, I can't see a need for these rotors.
I, along with many other members, run the Hawk HP pads with no noise issues. The majority of noise actually comes from improper bedding in of the pads and not the actual brake pads themselves.

I use that exact setup. (had them on for 10k so far)
Cryo Rotors and hawk pads from tirerack all around.

What I have noticed:
Rotors:
As previously stated by ColdSHO these rotors get rusty fast.

Pads:
Pros: better bite, stopping is better than the oem ones. They are quiet too.
Bad: Holy friggin Dust batman! after a week, my rims are brown.

So all is said and done, I'm not impressed with the rotors at all.
Ive got one warping already (Can hear it hitting a high spot when I drive slow)
I have a love/hate relation with the pads though.

I'd say skip the cryo rotors to be honest.. not worth it.
Im 100% street use. no track.

Did you see this thread: http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...ee-rotors.html

Cryo came up in the discussion, might be some useful "real world" info there.

I'm in need of brakes myself running badly warped OEM rotors and pads with 77k on my 01 and the time has come. I was doing alot research myself and what the consensus was a few years ago was that the cryos kept rusting and weren't worth the money, but you are right nobody has brought it up lately so I was curious too. And from what DJcalvin writes it looks like the cryos haven't changed and aren't worth it. I was just considering doing a budget big brake to the front with some 04 or 05 OEM front rotors and Hawk Hp pads and RTP blanks on the back...Anyone running this on an 01? Actually will it work?

the 04/05 setup up front on my 00 with rtp rears was what i had for a long time, i was running axxis pads and i thought it was a great setup, i just went to the z32/rtp front setup and hawk pads recently and i dont notice as much of a difference as i did from going from 00 to 04 rotors, i have solid rotors all around and have very little noise

i run stock sized rtp drilled and slotted with hawk pads on my wifes 95 and i love them on that car too,its no bbk but its a heck of an improvement over stock, theyre a bit louder but i doubt a normal person would even notice
