And finally (famous last words), here we have the $15 Litech H3 bulbs in EBay aftermarket replacement fog lenses, with amber LED's in the daytime runners, and the fog-light rewire trick so the fogs run without the low beams.

It's not knock-me-down awesome, and it's not perfect, but it's a better look than stock, and I'm pretty happy... for now.

Here's mine with whites in the markers. Tried 4 or 5 kinds until I found out about the 5 led refractor bulbs that shine in all directions.

hid's for the fogs but they are crap.

Hey Knight if your going to pickup a couple of those vanity bulbs, would you mind grabbing a couple for me as well ... I really like the look of the white LED top markers in the head lamps.

By "194 bulb" in the "headlights", you mean 194 wedge bulbs in the running lights. And yep, the 5-bulb LED wedges fit perfectly in the daytime running lights.

However, the 12-bulb LED wedges do not fit well. Maybe well-enough to hang on, but I didn't trust it.

I'm pretty sure they fit ok, I may have had to put them in on an angle or line them up with the slot cut in the opening of the hole.

I had the 12's in there as well but you could count the leds when you looked at the lens and I didn't like that. And they just barely fit in there

  • The panel of bulbs was too thick to fit under the light cover without jamming it un-centered and cutting the light housing.

  • And 6 of the bulbs would not light.

Big fail. Bummed.

So I snapped this 36-bulb panel in half, cutting out the 6 failed LED's, leaving a 3x6 array of functioning bulbs. The reduced size fit better in the dome housing, and the reduced number of bulbs made the brightness about right.

It's... interesting. Certainly different. Kind of otherworldly at night.

(And this is the last time I quote my own posting. Feels wrong. )

I just put in some new sylvania "silverstar" ( I think that's its name) and they immediately exploded. WTF?

I'm not replacing fog lights after that epic failure.

It didn't just burn out, it actually exploded? Really?

That's not a particularly good feature in a fog light bulb.

I'm a few weeks now into these $15 Litech bulbs, and am still very pleased with the look and price.

I went to kragen and they said no refund or exchange on bulbs. They said it's possibly a bad circuit or a fuse that is too large for the circuit. I guess I have to call it quits for that fix. I haven't checked yet if the lights exploded but they got really bright for a second and then made a pop so I'll just call it an "explosion."

And that is with the stock setup; wiring and all? Yikes.

I'm running cheap Nokya yellow bulbs and have been fine.

The wiring is stock but it seems there's a short ciruit because I keep blowing the fuse to the fog lights. Now I'm really screwed

bunch of questions about HID Plazma Xenon Fogs...

I know that the stock fog light bulbs are 12V 55W and ARE THEY SIZE H1 or H3 ???

If I want to use stock size light bulbs can I only use that specific light bulbs size??

these are the replacement bulbs I want I might even get the white

also note that on the box in japanese it says 12V 60/55 >>130/100W so does that mean I can use these instead of stock without rewire/kit???

check your metal clips that hold the bulb in place, sounds like there may be one side where the clip is making contact with something and grounding out ... take out one bulb from one side and power up the fog lamp that has a bulb in it, if nothing blows the fuse, repeat with the other side to help figure out which side is causing the problem.

Back on Post #70, I mentioned wrapping the H3 wire connections with black tape. I was instantly blowing a fuse.

Nothing "exploded" per se. Except the fuse, that is. Not really an explosion either, just a wee little snap.

Which Litech's did you get and are you having any issues with them?? I plan getting the super white over cool blue.

I bought the exact same ones that Ghost54 recommended earlier in this thread. They were only $15 (free shipping), so the price was certainly right. The color is about right. Not perfect, but vastly better than the OEM bulbs.

However, I've since become concerned about the heat. These are 100w bulbs, where the specs call for 55w. As such, the lenses get real, real hot. Since I became aware of the high temp, I've stopped using my fogs for fear of cracking them. (Ghost has had his for over a year without issue, but he's also very careful with their usage with things like rain and snow.)

Right now, I'm waiting on a set of Amber LED H3 replacements. Those were only $18 (free shipping), and I have an old lens I can experiment with, so I figure I'd see how that looks. It will turn the fogs into a cosmetic-only feature, but that's OK. They may not light the way in an actual fog, but will still forewarn oncoming traffic.

That's the plan, at least. If that doesn't pan out, I'll try something else.

God knows there are lots of options.

since they run hot its a good thing you pointed that out... I might just order replacement 55W bulbs.

BTW: Whats the Amber LED H3's wattage??

Go to Ebay and search on H3 Amber

Also, there's a long thread about this from a few months ago.

I really like the idea, but won't have a final opinion until I test it out in the next week or two. I believe MIK3 and phatboislim here on the Org are using them right now, both happy as kids in a toystore.

I'll take my chances with the LED's since they run on 1 Watt and run cool.
I pull the trigger on H3 Xeon White LED's $20 for a PAIR is cheap compared to Nissan dealer ship charging $28 for 1 OEM fog light bulb. post some picks when you get yours installed.

Definitely. You're probably going to like the "look" of the white LED's, just don't be expecting any kind of "fog light" functionality.

Ran into that same conclusion with the back-up lights. Loved the look, but it wasn't functional enough. And back-up lights are kind of important, so I bailed.

These LED's are kind of interesting. It's definitely a different design than what I've been seeing lately, and would easily fit under the hat.
