who has halo's

Hey a question for anybody with halo headlights:

I have an 02 SE with the HID's and I want to get some halo lights. Will these ones work? do I need projector ones or regular and will they work with my factory HID's?

thx

there is mine.

oh yeah, I need to buy the prebuilt ones. I cant bake lights and do it myself cuz up here there is really bad winters and humidity will cause condensation build up. Otherwise I would go for the diy ones.

Dude I'm in Minnesota..just as bad as Canada in the winter and worse humidity during the summer due to the 10k plus lakes here....

You can send your headlights to him and he can seal them up perfectly.

OR if you DIY you can ask him the best way to seal it, and he can walk you through. He will be able to send some OEM sealant along with your order most likely.

IMO the prebuilt ones look like crap, and the projector ones have really useless light....

nzelinsky Jul 20, 2009 01:27 PM

hmmm... have you tried the prebuilt ones?? It just seems like alot of hassle for me to ship off my lights, considering they are the only set I have and the max is my only car...

Maybe I will try doing it myself, Im just not very good with electrical work and what not... are they easy to wire in?

Stormzusmc Jul 20, 2009 01:29 PM

Yeah they are simple and he can help you with all the work via email. It would be more expensive to have him do it, but look at his custom prices and services on his website.

nzelinsky Jul 20, 2009 01:47 PM

alright, well I sent him a message for a quote. thanks for the tip.

Anybody else tried the prebuilt ones? I am still considering this if anybody can give me some feedback.

Stormzusmc Jul 20, 2009 01:51 PM

the light output on those "ebay" headlights you have posted are going to be garbage and practically useless....it may be easier and cheaper...but they are not good...and thats what most people are going to tell ya

hi-tek22 Jul 20, 2009 02:02 PM

do a custom retro all the way....you wont regret it, those ebay projectors look like the quality is horrible, and when you feel them its even worse............and dont even get me started on the light output.....just TERRIBLE

cmd26 Jul 20, 2009 03:56 PM

dont buy the ebay headlight i did it and i regret evryday i go outside n look at my car. after a while they get real ugly and they use H3 bulbs.

nzelinsky Jul 21, 2009 08:43 AM

is it hard to wire in the halos? how long do you think it will take if I do it myself??

cmd26 Jul 21, 2009 09:48 AM

I dont have experience with wiring I took my car to a shop n it cost me $150 for them to wire the headlights. Its a complete rewire cuz the factory connnections wont fit the ebay projector headlights connections, they used those caps that r used to connect wires. At one point the connections failed n I only had a foglight at for a whole night it n had to go back to get them rewired for free of course, then they werent aimed right one side was up n the other was down. If i could go back in time I would stop myself from buying n installing those headlights, but hey u might like them its ya choice.

redrelyt12 Jul 21, 2009 09:48 AM

I have the ebay style headlights, they weren't purchased on ebay, but they're the same design as the ones. As for the halos, three of them have died in the year since I've had them. Light output was MUCH better than my fogged stock lenses, but I wish I had saved and am currently saving for an 02-03 conversion with the max power setup.

I had some of the same problems. My wiring was done correctly, the halos were just spliced into the side markers, worked fine till they started blinking and eventually dying altogether. Aiming was a small problem, but easily adjusted.

cmd26 Jul 21, 2009 10:11 AM

my driver side is still higher than my passenger side, i turn n turn i cant get them even at all. clockwise is up n counter clockwise is down at least i think

steroidjunkie Jul 21, 2009 01:17 PM

the standard ebay projectors come with 2 LEDs in each ring. Any LED system (except for the new umnitza ones which use many small LEDs) has problems with light dispersion in the sense that some parts of the ring will be brighter than others.

LED rings CANNOT compare to a CCFL system, they are just SO dim. Not to mention the fact that LEDs are not meant to be used in high temperature environments (like a headlight housing) and this causes them to fail like crazy (in my experience).

There are some ebay projectors that use CCFLs instead of LEDs...I dont know what the CCFL reliability is for those headlights but I think its worth the chance considering if you get the LED ones you will have about 6 months before you need to open up the housing to fix your LEDs. When mine blew...I just put in a custom CCFL system and I could not be happier with how the DIY turned out

nzelinsky Jul 22, 2009 08:16 AM

you did the custom ccfl on the ebay lights or your oem lights? So there is a concensus that the diy is the best way to go? Well, Im off to see if I can find a decen writeup for it. Thanks

custom ccfl on the ebay projectors. My car is an '00 so it doesnt come with OEM lights that are compatible with angel eyes.

nzelinsky Jul 22, 2009 12:21 PM

The last ones are JDM would they be better quality or are these all pretty much the same as ebay ones?

redrelyt12 Jul 22, 2009 12:23 PM

theyre all the same exact thing as the ebay ones im pretty sure, just called different names

nzelinsky Jul 22, 2009 12:26 PM

ahh crap... thats what I figured...

So are there any GOOD prebuilt ones that anybody in here is using?

redrelyt12 Jul 22, 2009 01:35 PM

from what i've seen, those are the only ones. i'd recommend sticking with stock, cleaning them, and adding the halos if you want to spend the money

arcueda Jul 22, 2009 03:51 PM

dont get the ebay crap if you already have hids....period....

all those lights to include are going to be disappointing...the "jdm" ones you refer too lol...i fail to see how those are jdm, as the cefiros dont have those....they just labeled it jdm to sell mark up the price and sell them.....

again you have hids....ccfls are the way to go....contact maxpower, you would be disapointed...

nzelinsky Jul 23, 2009 08:07 AM

well I am dissapointed that he hasnt replied to me yet... lol

Stormzusmc Jul 23, 2009 11:50 AM

what did you ask him? ill see if i can get a hold of him

nzelinsky Jul 23, 2009 08:10 PM

I asked him to price halos with blacked out housing and extra led strip (around 6") all installed on my stock lights. for 02 w/HID

headlight question

hey hopefully you guys could help out...i recently rearended some1 and its in the body shop.i need new headlights becasue the back plastic cracked...(they still work so im guessing the HID ballast or w.e it is is working fine. i have an 02 wit HId , nissan wants crazy amount of money for them, and i dont have that kind of money to spend. I want to upgrade to the HALO style lights but after all the reading i heard that you shouldnt buy the prebuilt halo lights because the lighting is dim etc...is my only option to buy brand new headlights and then the halo kit on top of that?..is it also possible to just buy the headlight without the HID ballast or computer or w.e it is. any ideas or suggestions. Like i said im on a tight budget ecspecially after fixing the rest of my car. thnx

nissandrvr98 Aug 4, 2009 09:41 AM

cdawg-check your local junkyards, ebay and the F/S section on maxima.org to get started. You are correct in that often with aftermarket (esp projector) lights, there is a significant degradation in light output and function.

If money is tight i'd focus on getting working headlights in decent shape and then worry about modifying them.

Orion V2 Angel Eyes are the only way to fly tho ;)

Kquezada28 Aug 4, 2009 10:07 AM

ya dude definitely dont go for any of these, to my i think any light, fog and head lights that are not OEM look cheap and stand out a lot...

Child_uv_KoRn Aug 4, 2009 11:18 PM

maxpower's shop page doesn't work

halos with the strip are very sexy

Well I have cheap (well not super cheap) ebay halos..

I had to get headlights asap just because rollin without headlights is not good..

I cant complain. They look good, the headlights are bright.

Here is a pic.
http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._1055722_n.jpg

So, idk, they work. :D

umnitza Aug 26, 2009 07:52 AM

When LED first came out, it was dim.
Then CCFL took over, we've now had 5 years of working with CCFL and while it's good, the new Orion V2 is leagues ahead of any CCFL in terms of longevity, reliability for install, and brightness. Plus, it's the ONE time you open your lights. With CCFL, as some of you experienced, the more you drove it through winter climates the less it worked:(
