got a straight pipe today
got a straight pipe today
it replaced the piping and silencer between the cat and exhaust. much nicer to look at. not really and louder with the stock exhaust still there. but definitely a lower growl sound to the motor.

Also where did you get it from and how much?

wow! like i said, i don't know if it's just psychological or something, but man this pipe rocks. nice deep tone and i'm sure there's more power too. the extra sound from the exhaust is much deeper and only a hair more noticable than stock. right around midrange the engine noise overcomes the exhaust sound anyway.
the added punch is coming right in the middle of the rpm range, around 2500-3500.
on second thought, it's really cold right now in california. cold and relatively dry air may be the cause, not the pipe. but i'll keep thinking it's the pipe.
the tube replaces everything between the cat and the muffler. it's actually just a temporary piece a developer put in for me while he develops another maxima product. not supposed to say much more than that i think.
i'll be going back for a fitment of the finished product which will be mandrel bent and all stainless yada yada. the pipe i've got in there now is just some custom made job they put together at the shop.

I am not positive what this pipe your talking about is. Does this pipe replace the cat and the little short piece behind it with a straight pipe? Or did you get a bpipe from the cat to the muffler?
Also where did you get it from and how much?

sounds like it is a b-pipe then... straight pipe is a term usually associated with replacing the cat....

o. a b-pipe then. whatever its real name is it's growing on me more and more. i'll see how it is with a new exhaust on there too. hope it's not too loud. if it is, i think maybe i'll just sell the exhaust and keep the b-pipe.

i would defitnetly count on the sound being way louder. you could get away with it if you left the stock muffler then add a y-pipe, quiet sound and more power.
