car surges or hesitates while accelerating hard

Ok this is the question. Car runs perfect pretty much everywhere, but i notice when im getting on the hiway and getting in the gas hard to get going when im in 3rd and the engine gets to 3500-4000 it starts to stutter, hesitate or whatever you want to call it. Im not sure if it does it in other gears at that rpm as i havent been able t otry it but i think i noticed it in second as well. What could this be. I read somewhere it may be the ecu or could it be the coils. Anyone have this and fixed the problem..

edit: was reading this may an ECU problem. I see alot of ppl have had this problem and an ECU reflash help some people. I have an 03 auto so im in the 8 year and i only have 76XXX so im good there to. Has anyone gotten the reflash lately?

so does reflashing the ecu work?

i just bought an 00 maxima with 130k miles on it.
The motor doesn't go over 4k rpm and shifts into next gear.

and also, reflashing ecu is like any other car? just unplug the battery for a few minutes?

No CELs btw

Both of these could be problems with the MAF sensor.

My car used to hesitate under WOT in that rpm range with my old MAF.

so I took it to my friend who is a Master Tech at a Nissan dealership and he drove the car and hooked it up to his little scanner. It turned out to be a MAP sensor. Even though the Check Engine Light never came on, the MAP sensor wasn't working to its fullest causing the rpms to not go over 4000.
