MotorTrend Int'l AutoShow in Las Vegas!

Sorry I don't have any more photos. It was the last picture on the roll.
So, I saved it just for the Nissan/Infiniti booth. So, there...

By the way: They had some interesting things to say about
the upcoming 6th Generation Maxima. But, don't expect to
see it anytime soon. They are pushing the 350Z next!

cool pic

So does this mean that the Gen6 Max won't be out until the 2004 model year and that the Gen5 will go one more year through the 2003 model year?

Well, you know, technically they run the models three years at a time. So, that means, we should not have a new Max till 2K4. But, they really wouldn't comment at the show.

But, DAYUM, the NAV System on the 2K2 Q45 sure is cool. Pop up the screen and it will show you where you are. Put the car in reverse, and the screen will show you what is behind you.

Imagine my surprise when I saw SCCA Solo2's Honduh on the screen!!!

Apparently you're not as good at math as the rest of us. 3 years is 2000, 2001, and 2002. That means the new Max is coming in that's right 2003. Just like all the Nissan press releases said.

Isn't the new Z coming out in the spring for an early MY03 release? Maybe by saying this...

...they meant that the Z will come out in the spring and the Maxima will follow "sometime later than not anytime soon" in the Fall of 2002 as an MY03 car??

Damn, a 3 year model cycle is short, but I guess that's part of Nissan's revitalization plan, eh?

Well, the way "they" were talking, it sounded like the 2K3 Max was not going to be out with a new body style. They were going to put everything into the 350Z. Then, they would remodel the 6th Gen Max and bring it out as an early 2K4 model.

But, only "they" know who is them...

Ah, I gotcha. So they implied that the 03 would still be a G5, but that the MY would be cut short and the 04/G6 would be released early like in the Spring of 2k3 instead of the usual fall rollout. haha. Too many abbreviations

Before I say this let it be known I am a well rooted Nissan Enthusiast.....Nissan(and most other car companies) is too damn cheap to bring out a completly new max as a 2003 model. That would be a complete waste of the Gen5 model(I mean the changes they made on the 2002 max is alot for nissan(HID lights,taillights,In-dash CD player,Retuned suspension, interior door handles, gauges, seats)They true nissan people like me know that 4-5 years is almost madatory for model cycles(1st gen altima 93-97,4th gen maxaima 95-99 are examples of there stubborness to redesign) but hold up it's not only nissan the latest accord 98-02 we all know deep down inside the max will be the same damn thing next year and then mabey just mabey a new one will be introduced in 2004 so stop all this OVER ANXIOUS talk of a 6th gen

This guy is right. Most model cycles last between 4-6 years. Within those years Nissan usually does "minor refinements". Example, 3rd gen maximas are from 1989-94, within those 6 years they refined the maxima in 92. 4th Gen maximas are from 1995-99, within those 5 years they refined the maxima in 1997. So everyone needs to calm down, there probably wont be no 6 Gen maxima for at least until 2004-2005. Why would they fully redesign the 5th gen after 3 years. Actually if you think about it, most likely the 2k2 maxima is the "minor refinement". Also the new Z is supposed to enter the market as a 2003 model. Do you really think they would introduce the new Z and the 6 Gen maxima in the same model year, I'm pretty young, but even I know thats just ridiculous.
