Removing front seats?

In the near future I will be removing the front seats (heated, electric, & side air bags) to put my amplifiers under them. My local stereo shop cautioned me that by doing this my air bag warning light may come on and I will have to pay big $$ to have my air bag system diagnosed by the dealership.

This makes sense and it wouldn't surprise me, but I really don't know. Anyone run into this problem?

It's possible. But, only if you were to remove the wires from your airbag system and turn on the ignition. It will throw a code to the computer and leave the airbag light on until it is reset.

I never really thought about this, but it does make sense when I think about it. Do you have side air bags? That could possibly the reason, since I assume you have to disconnect a wire (or two).

Maybe not

These airbag systems have such redundency built into them since they are a safety feature, that removing the front seats (and disconnecting the wires) may throw a code ANYWAY, even if you do not turn on the ignition or disconnect the battery. There may be a backup system to monitor them.
