It should fit fine. What do you have for the rest of your exhaust ? Is it stock ?

Are you talking about the RMT ebay one? I have it, but haven't installed it yet. Other member says it fits good.

On the old car I had headers, test and straight-through muffler with no rasp....

You most likely got the one for 95-99.... I had the same problem. Sent that one back and got the correct one...

Why not have a shop make one??? weld a flang on a 2.5" pipe n bolt it up... i must say straight pipe is not the way to go... i'd say the cattman fastcat or magnaflow hi flow cat... you dont make any significant gains between the two, maybe 1whp and that HP is arguable

Screw that. A test pipe from Warpspeed cost me $35 shipped.
It wouldn't even be worth my time to weld flanges on a pipe. Probably wouldn't cost that much less than a test pipe either.
A Fastcat from Catts is around $200. Not a good investment in my book for a 1 whp gain.
Plus, Warpspeed's comes with all new hardware and gaskets...

Hey Maxima Dude! You sent me a PM but it was to 00MaxSE and not me. He ended up forwarding to me.

Anyways, get a Warpspeed test pipe. Make sure you give them a call FIRST! Talk to them and see if they have any in stock, otherwise you'll be waiting weeks for them to make one.

I think the RMT was either two inches too short or long, I can't remember.

Going to have to do that then. I have a couple replacement pre-cats and I figure also getting a test pipe might get back some of the power my car seems to lack. Not like my car is slow but just doesn't feel as quick as it should be. With 161,000 miles on it, got to be at least some degradation of the cats that is increasing back pressure.

You're right, a shop is not going to replace your cat with a straight pipe.

You know, there's a valid environmental reason for the catalytic converter. I mean, we're all polluters in a million different ways, but as long as we play by the rules, then responsibility falls on our legislators, and not our own weak minded sensibilities. However, when you willfully, intentionally bypass environmental regulations... that's just socially irresponsible.

There are other ways to gain that manly 1hp.

One the other hand, the precats alone cleanse the exhaust quite effectively and a clogged main cat can cost far more than 1 hp.

I will have to tape both sounds and post them up. I wonder how much quieter it is with a cat than without.

Sorry for the late response, haha. RMT test pipe from Ebay fits perfect. No issues. The flange is kind of weird as the piping sticks out a little further from the flange, so the gasket actually comes in contact with the piping and then tightening the bolts connected to the flange tightens the connection from the gaskets to the test-pipe piping. It's a loose flange design, which I don't really like, but as far as fittment issues, there are not.

I am currently looking into a 3" test pipe (the one the 240sxers use). I'll let everyone know how that works out.

When I had only the test pipe, it didn't sound bad at all. Infact, I barely noticed any difference, whether it was idling or at a higher RPM. I now have the 3" cattman set up and LOVE the sound, it's like a 350z, but beefier...zero complaints.

sound, like how aftermarket suspension rides, are subjective. what may sound good to you, may sound like crap to others. i am not a fan of test pipes on NA cars, and cant stand the rasp thats associated with them. but, as long as people are happy on how their car sounds, thats fine by me

Regardless how it sounds, the gain (?) isn't worth the hassle of failed inspection.
