Dammit! Now I got rear-ended!

I think all this rear-ending talk jinxed me. It was a nice day out today, no rain or snow to make it slippery, so I can attribute this one to plain old ignorance. I was stopped in the turning lane, but since there were a number of cars turning, the edge of my rear bumper was in the leftmost lane. I'm sitting there, and all of a sudden I feel my car lurch forward and can hear her swearing through my open window. I took a look, and it's really not bad at all, but I'm still ****ed. The bumper has a small dimple on the right side, but my friend's taking it off tonight and he's gonna see if he can pop it back out. Hopefully it'll look normal, but if not, at least I have her insurance stuff. I suppose it's good to get the first accident out of the way, and this one was pretty minor, but I'd still prefer none at all.

sorry bout your car man. sux. the small ones get under your skin, like parking lot dings and s**t.

maybe altezza should develop aftermarket taillights with like 100w brake lamps

YIKES!!! Sorry to hear about your car I hope you get it fixed all right!

What is going on? I agree that maybe people are in a rush and stuff, but it almost makes me want to go out and check my car for a 'Please Ram Me' sign I hope that everyone here takes care and that people stop ramming into perfectly good (perhaps better since we like mods around here) Maximas!

Thanks for the concern everyone, but it's fine now. I took it to my friend's (CL-S guy) house tonight, and the original plan was to take off the bumper and pop it back out. I walked inside to get a beer, came out, and it was fixed! I asked him what the hell he did, and all he said was,"I kicked the **** out of your rustbucket Nissan. Not the first time, huh?", with a huge grin on his face. I'm really not sure what he did to pop it out, but it looks ok now (I'm guessing he really did kick it...) minus a couple small cracks in the paint. I'm gonna go to a body shop Monday to get that taken care of, and I still have the lady's insurance stuff in case the cost gets higher than I feel like paying. Hopefully this will be the last of my body and paint woes, (as if the paint itself wasn't bad enough) and the last accident.

OEM rear bumper = $320
Paint and clear coat = $ a few hundered at least

Collect some inusrance money and keep the old bumper = more mods

My bumper got hit too

My Maxima got hit in the rear bumper too about three months after I got it back in Sept 2000. It was a cute girl I liked, so I got her insurance information but never filed the claim. Gave me a good excuse to talk to her. The body shop said it would have cost $300 to fix and repaint the scrape she put in my bumper.

Maybe our rear bumpers stick out too much? They extend three feet from the rear wheel. Redesign, Nissan?
