Broken shifter bracket... oh dam...

Long story short my shifter bracket broke, the bracket that locks the cable in place near to to the tranny. I ordered one friday, the day it broke, and it should be in tomorrow. I was curious if anyone knows exactly how to change it though, it looks like a few bolts from what I can see from a quick glance, the major clip that holds the cable onto the bracket, and that's it? Anyone got any extra advice?

If its the bracket that goes through the undercarriage to the tranny, you need to replace the entire cable assembly. Prepare to lift up the ECU, and route both ends to the correct locations. Much easier with a lift.

Why replace the entire cable assembly? It's just the bracket that snapped. From what I can see, pop out the clip holding the cable down, pop the cable out. Take those 3 (12 or 14mm bolts, breif look) off... and replace it? I'll take pics to clarify. I tried searching but if there's no write up for it, i'll take pics and take an attempt at making one.

I know the one you mean. It bolts to the top of the tranny. It's pretty straight forward but one of the bolts is a b!tch to reach. Having a flex head gear wrench really helps. Other than that the clips pop right off and it's simple.

Why do you think it broke? Did you drill into the bracket for the STS mod, or are you talking about a different component?

Different component. If you pop your hood, there's a bracket that the clutch line runs against. The line is clipped down onto the bracket. The bracket holds the line is the position where it's known to read "this is nuetral, first, second" etc. It's not where I drilled the hole for the sts, it's before that. It's the only bracket that it connects too and its about 4-6 inches from the fire wall and bolts onto the tranny. How do I know it's broke? Because it's snapped dead clean down the middle and moves wherever it wants lol. Zip tie made me home though. I'll post pics and more than likely do a write up.

Thanks derrick btw for calming my nerves

haha I figured. Thanks though for the imput, I just wanna make sure this is a short quick replacement. I used another 3 zip ties today and was able to pop it back on to it's original position. It drives normal but i;m trying not to drive it till the bracket comes in.

Quick and easy to replace. Takes 5 or 10 minutes to do, really (I've dropped the 6MT maybe a half dozen times, pulled the shift cable bracket beforehand each time).

It's not a clutch bracket, it has NOTHING to do with the clutch. It's a shift cable bracket.

Excuse my termonology. That part number is the same one I ordered. I'm always confusing the 2. The shift cable bracket is the one I ordered. I ordered it for 43,23 also, but not from courtesy? I called up east charlotte nissan here in Charlotte and they told me it'd be about 70 bucks. Oh well, point being part was ordered. The right part at that. So i'm good for now. Appreciate all the help. Thank Pmohr for the excellent quick answers (as usual).

Buy one for the 6th gen Max. They're a little beefier and a direct swap.

We're shifitng too hard=/ ahahaha. I'm gonna definitely slow my shifts down. Well not slow them down but -10 the power for it. Might cost half a second. But the way I look at it speed shifting as fast as I was was only causing me to bark and spin.. Let's try something new. I do NOT wanna run into this again.
