powdercoating wheels - what would look best?

powdercoating wheels - what would look best?

My wheels are all scratched up and one of them has a gouge from the last time I put tires on it (machine slipped and dug into the wheel). I did a favor for a friend for inspection and he said he'd powdercoat my wheels for me I'd just have to pay for materials. My question is what color do you think would go best? My car color is sterling mist. I'm getting it done for next to nothing but don't wanna regret doing it in the firdt place. Also I have the 17" GLE wheels. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm planning on doing this maybe after winter so I don't put the "new" wheels through all that salt and snow.

Thanks to everyone in advance!

-Sean

^Agreed. Either black or a dark charcoal/gunmetal. I think anything darker would compliment your car's color.

Dude your crazy if you pc those wheels black, you'll be kickin' yourself in the azz in 6 months if you do!! Theres nothing wrong with black wheels but on a sterling mist NO DICE!

Keep the stock color, match the car, or a bright silver... You can thank me later!

Black chrome!!! Because since you're only paying for material, might as well go big!! The resale value is gonna be very high!

yeah i definitely think i'm leaning towards more of a darker color, possibly black...I do like the black chrome idea though, sounds like it'd look nice. I gotta see how much the materials are gonna be and then try to find a set of wheels to throw on in the meantime. Otherwise I'll leave my car at work on a lift for a weekend but I'm not too fond of being without the car haha. Thanks everyone for the input, I'll keep you guys updated.

My vote is gun metal or anthracite. Anything darker than your car's stock color would like nice.

I asked a local shop they asked 500 bucks for all 4 wheels. I could get some decent new wheels for that money.

^Actually you could. 500 wouldn't be bad if it were on a different kind of wheel.

have 04 max rims PM if interested.

the closest pics I have of the rims are here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3245762

They're not closeups unfortunately, but it's all I have. I don't get out of work early enough to have any light lol. I'm gonna look at a few samples before I make a decision, but I can't stand looking at these gouges and scratches. I just don't know if I want to do this before winter with all the salt and whatnot and then end up next year with crap wheels again haha. It's not gonna cost me much at all to get this done (I think he told me $50 for materials, for black chrome, he's gonna do everything else free, the favor system works great). I just need to decide what I want to do exactly and then he's gonna take care of it over a weekend. Luckily, one of the parts guys just took his 'summer' wheels off his altima and I can use those while I get my current wheels done. So I don't even need to be without a car lol.

yeah anything black would be pretty bad imo esp with your setup. If you had to powder coat them I would match body color or darker chrome/gunmetal.

I know its costing you nearly nothing....but I still wouldnt even bother. Find a replacement wheel if that damage is bothering you too much.

Enkei's are purty but can't they get expensive lol. Although, if he got the Enkei's he probably wouldn't have to powdercoat. Just buy 'em how you want 'em.

unfortunately, I think I'm gonna have to stick with the stock look - and scratches. I pulled into work today and the lot wasn't open. We turned away all the cars that came in, and we're no longer open for service. As of 10:38am, I'm no longer employed lol. Which really sucks, but the owner of the dealer said we can still use the shop if we need to for sidework and for our own cars...so...if anyone needs work done, let me know! haha...there's a chance we'll re-open, but it's gonna be at least 45-60 days away, and we can't hold off operating for that long...soo...I gotta find some sidework to put me thru the next couple of months. Good news though, unemployment literally took me four and a half minutes to fill out lol. So, just an offer to anyone, if you need some work done on your max, lemme know! Help support the cause lol

Yeah, it's all good man. If you need anything else lemme know and I'll see what I can work out. I'm pretty much pulling side jobs and goin wherever I can to make a few bucks. I just got a job offer in Queens at one of the paratransit companies servicing their transit cars and buses, so I'm hoping that pulls through. I gotta stop in next week, a guy I used to work with works there and is referring me so if the money's right I'm all in.

Speaking of tires though I just mounted brand new ones today! What kinda tires did ya get? Mine are 235/55/ZR17 Pirelli PZero Nero's...they're factory on Ford Mustang's but since we're going out of business me and the owner worked out a deal and I put em on...they're huge, to say the least lol. I'll get pics up eventually though.

If this all works out I'll still get the wheels done, b/c they look like crap and upset me very much haha.

245/40/18 General Exclaim UHP from ebay for $320 shipped They have like 700 miles on them. I have 225/55/17 on my stock rims and yeah, they're tall...but it's a good way to close that wheel gap I have.lol

haha yeah that's awesome! how do you like them? And trust me..taller tires do help with wheel gap. I had 215/60/17 on at one point and I thought they were big, but these tires are just huge. Virtually no wheel gap! If it weren't dark I'd get a few pictures, but I guess that gives me somethin to do tomorrow (being that I'm a jobless bum now, lol)

I like them so far. Plus they just look better, the 225/55 just looked too narrow for an 8" rim IMO and 245/45 just looked kinda dopey with the 225's up front.

Well since the idea of powdercoating/new rims/anything on my car is outta the question, I figured I'd play with photoshop (even though I suck at it haha)...
