Custom audio install in trunk w/ pics
I would like to thank everyone for their inputs on this. Here is what I decided to do,
Two rectangular speaker boxes (14"x10"x18") with enough air space so the Kickers would sound good. I used quick disconnects on the wires.
I had to notch out a section in each box for the trunk supports. This way, I did not actually have to bolt the speakers down. This will make it easier to remove them whenever I feel like it.
When the trunk is closed, the supports hold the speakers in place. No banging around at all. They do not move.
I debated whether or nor to install the amp under the pass. seat. I decided to keep everything together in the trunk. So, I built an extra shelf for the amp. As you can also see, the non-nav mat, which is still available, fits perfectly. The cut-out section on the driver's side is completely covered by the speaker box.

That's pretty good work, Roy. It looks almost OEM. The new carpet looks good. Funny, you can still see the bends where it was folded for shipping.
So after this... a RSTB is not in your future, eh? Not you would ever notice it with that beastly cage under your car.

Awesome work! Ive been waiting to see something like this for a long time. Does the notch for the trunk supports act as a port or "band pass" for the sub? Or is the enclosure sealed up away from the notch?

Assuming his dimensions are inside, he has 1.4 cu ft.
Kicker sez min 1ft, max 2.4ft, sealed.
Sounds about bang on.
If the dimensionss are outside, though, he's kinda small.

Vehicles equipped with navi have their trunk mats cut out on the d/s. This is where the navi systems are mounted. Non-navis do not.
Will do bud
Stock system died around 40K miles.
RSTB is actually the only suspension mod I don't have besides traction bars.
The boxes were built that size for this exact reason: Proper air space.
