Some picutres will be helpful. Sounds like you need a paint job for the whole car... As far as suspension, what kind of noise is it making? Who work on it last?

All that damage, its hard to say. I would guess well over 3k...I assume you don't have full coverage? It sounds like a total loss to me...

Sounds a lot like my car.

What kind of standards do you have? How much are you willing to spend?

If you want your exterior in like-new, showroom condition then be prepared to spend over $2000 (probably well over).

I don’t have particularly high standards for my car (cosmetically), don’t mind my car looking used or slightly used (also unwilling to spend thousands on a 9 year old car just on cosmetics). My goal is just to prevent it from ever looking ghetto or even slightly ghetto.

For my car (which again sounds a lot like your car) I just bought some touch up primer, paint and clear coat and painted over the scratches. Now if you look closely my car looks like it has scars which is okay with me (beats the heck out of what it looked like; white scratches on dark paint).

When looking closely at my car's hood, pebbles that hit the hood are starting to make ‘spider-web’ cracks. The hood also has other tiny chips caused by pebbles and other debris while driving (that are only noticeable on close examination). But I’m not going to spend $500-600 to get the hood repainted so I’m just going to have a clear bra installed to prevent it from getting much worse.

About the suspension….. I replaced my front struts but my suspension was still making noise. It ended up being the control arms instead (parts and labor cost a little over $300).

As long as my car is mechanically sound (which it is) I can live with small imperfections on the exterior.

I'd say you're looking at 3-4k.

My brother's 2002 had similar damage except the headlights and the mirror were cracked beyond repair. If its simply cracked, they do have some resin sealer that'll get rid of the cracks and make it look new.

We replaced everything..hood, headlights, fender, mirror and repainted it. It cost about..3.9k together. But he's a neat freak and wants his car looking new so it might be more than you were willing to spend.

well im not gonna spend a dime on it hopefully. I got in an accident and it was the other guy's fault . The f'ed part is that instead of being a man a dealing with the situation, he tried to get away by hiding in a parking lot. I was lucky i saw him made the turn else he would have escaped.

It really sucks to see my car in this condition cuz i babied this car to death .

I took some pictures but cuz of the snow they didn't come out that clear...

Looks worse than I thought.

Did the other guy have insurance? Do you get his info?

Good luck.

I just had a similar amount and type of damage, but also had some suspension and wheel damage. Came out to about $3,500 with the labor. That was the cost to replace the front bumper, hood, left fender, left front wheel and tire, and also the suspension damage. Plus any painting.

any advise on how to deal with his insurance company?

Would i have to get quotes or something or would they send a guy down to access the damage?

Yes, you would bring it to a reputable place and have them give the estimate to the insurance company. All this is done electronically these days and you never see a check unless you specify you want them too.

Also, the insurer might just send an appraiser to take a look. It would most likely have to be at the shop for them to go, as they work out a pre-determined quote from the shop. The appraiser will then get in touch with the insurer who will decide how to proceed. If you have any trouble with his insurer, get in touch with yours and they will put the pressure on to pay out because they won't want to when you were not at fault.

I know how you feel man. I've been waiting for mine for a full month now. Should get it back early next week. All that a month after buying the thing...

depends on whether you want to do it right or hava a gypsy do it! The gypsy way $1000 the right way $3500 to $4000...Like I said depends on if you want it done the right way. If your just going to drive it around and want it to look decent the cheap way may work for you. It also depends on how deep your pockets are which is usually my problem...lol

i need an opinion!
how much would it cost to fix this door?

Am i better off getting the existing one fixed or should i buy a used one in good condition (same color) for ~ $350

I'm tryna avoid dealing with the whole alignment issue along with swapping out the lock, window etc but if i end up saving a good amount of $$$, i might consider going that route....

Instead of going through insurance, cite him for attempted hit and run. Take it to court. If you win, you could probably walk away with enough money to buy a new Max and repair your old one...

Not really smart idea. Even if he does take it to court and wins, that doesn't mean the person will pay.

What are your goals when you say how much would the door cost to be repaired? I could estimate the body shop would need 3 hrs time on the door plus paint. But the door may not even be repairable.

If this guy has insurance then you need to call his insurance company and make a claim. I hope that you called the police at the time of the accident because they are helpful in at least getting his driver information etc.

If his insurance accepts liability you have a right to take the check and go wherever you want to get the vehicle repaired. Basically the check is yours and you make your own decisions on the repair work.

Also, if you have full coverage, I suggest that you report the accident to your insurance company and let THEM go after this guy. This is what you pay them for. So that you don't have to stress over accidents.
