How do YOU clean your cai filter?

Alright, so I've been searching around and I found some methods for cleaning the cai filter such as putting it in the wash, rinse it with a hose, buy a cleaning kit such as k&n and oil it etc...
What do you think is the best way to clean the cai filter?
and which method do you use to clean your cai filter?

I used the K&N cleaning kit before and it worked pretty good.

and to the post above, The kit says not to put a lot of pressure on the filter, and I have had other car guys tell me the same because i guess it un-weaves the threads and places gaps in the filter, making it less useful.

Would like to hear other opinions.

If it's a dry air filter (like Apexi), brush the outside with an old toothbrush, and gently scrape the creases in the grooves with a toothpick. Then duct tape a shopvac to the filter and blow it out in reverse for a few seconds. I do that twice a year. Then every two years, I just buy a new one.

If you're talking about an oiled filter... then I don't know. I don't advise using an oiled filter. But that's just one guy's opinion.

Yeah, that was kind of pointless, but consistent.

I'm thinking SoonerFan was less jaded 20,000 posts ago.

+1

props to AEM for making a good, durable filter and also making a cleaning kit for it.

The kit costs about $10-15 depending on where you buy it from

The best way to clean an oiled cone filter =

Grab a bucket, pour a spoon full of Oxiclean on bottom, place cone filter with opening down so it covers the Oxiclean, fill bucket with water, scoop up floating dirt/debris, dry filter, then re-oil.

Spray cleaner all over it and leave it for few minutes to do it's thing. Then rinse it from inside out. No high pressure or you will damage it. Get all the water out and place it over a vent in your house and let it dry completely.
