5th Gen Forum Updates/Suggestions/Postwhore Thread

As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been around lately to post or even clean up as much, although I'm sure Tim (Semy2k2go) and others have been around. Just wanted to start this thread for people to chime in on recent developments for 5th Gens, if any, or if anyone has a feedback/suggestions wishlist for this subforum, or who just wants to tell me what I've missed in the last few months.

Oh yeah, and I still have my Maxima, but the age is starting to show with lots more squeaks and rattles now.

Post away.

PS - I was only kidding about the postwhore thing... kinda...

There needs to be a tuning/piggyback thread in the fifth gen section with everything consolidated.

I wrote one for NYCmaximas.org, want me to post it here seeing as how there were a bazillion questions about S/AFC/e-Manage over the past few months?

Sure, thanks. That'll definitely help because I tried to compile all that from all over in the past but couldn't really finish it because there is so much info from all over the site.

I need to find all those old data log threads too...

They are 2003-2005 350Z Track Edition rims. Nuts are Project Kics Caliber 24 Heptagonal, if you want know.

Adding to the PW part of the subject line. The whole IB takeover flew right by me. I had no idea IB was in charge till I saw the banner change (and most recently, the menus have changed). Are mods employed and compensated by IB? Do they sign a contract with IB? Is there a manual they give you that tells you what to do, what to moderate, what's ok to post?

That actually happened 2 years ago. They only own the site and supply some of the server stuff, IIRC, but I don't know the technical details. IB does not influence the moderation and the admin/mod staff is the same for the most part - same guys who've been here for years, at least, those who have chosen to stick around. Still unpaid and unregulated.

i have a suggestion...some of the links to the how to's are messed up. takes you to a link that has nothing to do with what you are trying to find.

Yeah, that started when they migrated servers.... we were fixing those as and when they came up but some of those can't be corrected. I'll do my best to revisit that.

no problem.

suggestion: move the ones that work and the ones you fix to a different thread? dont know how easy that will be.

Post whoring and the site banner? OK... I can do that.

There were some vocal criticisms on that site banner after the fact in the Suggestions/Feedback forum, and some good collaborative efforts in the PhotoShop Forum for alternative designs. In the spirit of "post whoring", this was one interpretation of the collective ideas discussed in that thread:

And then there's the new banner:

And this work-in-progress from Mad-Max_SE:

The banner discussion has quieted down a lot in the last few weeks. Wish it would pick back up again. Love to see a poll, where the entire Org community could register their preference.

What? Why???

What about the 4G? I know you had taken the blower off, but did you end up keeping the car?

Regardless, post some details of that "new" car when you can.

I hate to say it but I still kinda like the middle one. The others get cluttered with all the different cars on it, but I'm no designer.

Ouch.

But fair enough, and politely spoken. Collecting community opinions would be good use of a poll. Still waiting on Mad-Max to sign off on his efforts.

This isn't like that one (yet)... no one says people have to participant anyway, so if they are "tired" of it, they can always opt out. I just thought people needed a place for friendly banter once in a while about Org stuff.

Well, I didn't say they were bad, the 3rd is really nicely done, I just prefer fewer cars on it. Besides, I also am not too crazy about some of those chosen to represent on the banner, lol. But that's personal preference.

Shoulda used an AE instead of a 5.5 gen

Third one would be my favorite one but I see the use of lens flare for the 7th gen headlights kills it for me.

Wow, nice banner Rochester. I like the 7th gen on your banner compare to others. I alsp like the idea of other gens, but I would put them sideway like the 3rd one, IMO. Overall, you got my vote.

See, I always thought AE stood for "Almost Excellent".

Thank you! Ah, but if you knew how much effort went into collecting and creating all that front-facing image stock.

The AE was a step in the right direction. An awesome model, a teaser for something great just around the corner.

Feelin' the love, Moncef.

Something great around the corner - you mean the VQ35, right?

I actually agree on that one. If I could find a mint AE in majestic blue, 5MT, I'd sell my car for that, move all my mods over, slap on a V2 kit and we'd be in business.

Dreams... they are nice...
