hit the nastiest pot hole and damage for sure

Wow moved to dallas from jersey and let me tell you, miss our beautiful roads!!! Was leaving work last night and didnt even see it, then slammed right into it.

damage recorded thus far: 1) huge bubble on front tire so need another 2) def bent front strut. 3) alignment way off but wont know if anything else is bent until strut is fixed and can realign.

so anyway it sucks but was wondering your guys opinion. i have had H&R front springs on stock struts for 60k now and loved the ride. loved the deminished wheel gap and def tighter cornering and for me, no noticeable ride compromise, still felt as comfortable as stock.

i searched and realize tok illuminas seem to be the most popular and worth the extra $ over tok blues but just wondering if i even needed that since i have a kind of mild spring compared to most and only on the front.

so guess my question is i was pretty happy with with combo i had. would the illuminas provide that much of a better ride? i know they are adjustable but could i really get my car lower on my H&R s without messing up my ride quality?

finally was thinking maybe to just get a stock replacement on the side that is bent and call it a day. is there any "stock replacement" that will work with a H&R spring or should i just get a used oem or something? because i heard most were stiffer than stock but ok if running stock springs which im not?

thanks for any help graetly appreciated

thanks was not sure if i had to change both or not. but makes sence to change them as a pair. so would i just use like an autoparts brand oem replacement for them? anyone have experience in this? again i was fine with the ride and would rather spend money on cosmetic things.

Sorry about what happened to your ride, and welcome to DFW. I must say and fore warn you that in the city of Dallas and Houston as well for that matter that they have some of the most pot hole, cracked, messed up roads that I have driven on. I just had a bent rim (seem like I'm always in Discount tire getting the Max and Z both tires rebalanced) and had to get it replaced as a result of these jacked up roads here, never happened once when I lived in Cali.

I drove through Jersey once and the roads were terrible, I havent rode through Dallas though so I cant make the call. Jersey was the second worst state I've driven in then NY.

Sorry to hear about the tire bro

I got Blues because they are "closest" to stock and they're cheaper than OEM.

yeah it was a pot hole i guess, i did not see it and was going the speed limit but i just think it was so deep that i had no chance. this will be first thing aside from radiator leaking a few weeks ago that i had to fix that wasnt for cosmetic or mod reasons so i guess im really lucky.

ill look into parts store like oreiley or something tomorrow and see the price for two oem replacements and if its close to the illuminas then ill just spring for them. well see i guess but thanks for the help

so spoke to a guy at performancepeddler.com and he said to just go with tokico blues unless i was going to go with all four and not just front like i plan to do. makes sence since im only lowered in front as well. great prices too.

am i correct that i should replace dust boots bump stops and strut mount assemblies?

thanks again for the help, greatly appreciated

Yeah they are bad in the actual city of Dallas, now in most of the suburbs the roads are much better.

dude, i think you jinxed me... lol

so the next day after reading this thread, i was driving home and decided to go into this parking lot to see what a certain building in my neighborhood was.... bad idea. i drove over a section of the concrete that was missing but disguised by water so i didnt know it was there. it measured out to be 5" or so... the sidewall of my tire EXPLODED. thankfully that was the only damage... AT THAT TIME. the next morning i took my car to a local "Goodyear" shop to get a new tire put on my rim. they put on 2 new tires for me... but the way they did it, it mutilated my rims. they gouged and scratched the chroms lips all to hell. So now they are about to send my rims off to get them fixed due to their mistake.

this has been such a ****ing fiasco....
