Assistance with Bank 2 Sensor 2
Hey Guys,
I did some searches, and was unable to find any How To on replacing the Bank 2 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor. Anyone taken on this adventure? Looking at this http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...bs-inside.html diagram It looks like it would be a b%itch to get too, but i haven't lifted the car just yet.
Figured i'd get someone who's done this opinion on what it's gonna take to replace, or if there is a Hot To i missed for this particular 02 sensor i'd appreciate the link. Almost wish it was any other 02 sensor, which look to be easier to get too than this one

its reallt not that hard once you get the nut to break loose its at a wierd angle which makes it hard but once you get a wrench on it and break it loose youll be fine what i did was unclip it up top and unclip all the little tabs down the wire this makes it easier to twist off cause the wires just flips instead of tangling itself BUT for the bad news which i found out the hard way this sensor is a DEALERSHIP PART dont let advanced auto or auto zone tell u other wise if maybe your part store happens to have it make sure you take your car to the store and unclip the sensor at the top of the engine and make sure the new one will clip in ( I FOUND THAT OUT HARD WAY) well the nissan store around me wats $202.65 total with tax for it also bank 1 sensor 1 is a dealership sensor also. your best route which im currently waiting for is getting a o2 simulator for $20-40. 200 bucks for one sensor is crazy if you find it somewhere for cheap let me know

Hey Jordan, thanks for the info. Looking at the position of the sensor in the diagram i thought i had to unbold or drop the exhaust to get to it, but correct me if i'm wrong based on your description it seems to be pretty accessible without having to remove any other components.
I did however go to advanced auto parts and auto zone online, and found this OE Type "exact fit" Bosch 02 sensor ($120). It has the red wire, is a Front bank left side, down stream sensor which matches the exact description. Even the connectors picture looks exact, but it would be nice if someone could confirm this is a plug and play sensor.

I'm curious what brand and part number did you buy from Autozone/Advanced Auto parts?

Coat the sucker in PB Blaster and let it sit overnight before you go and try to loosen it. Mine came right out, and they've been in there for as long as I've had the car. I used a 21" breaker bar + a crow's foot O2 socket. You can get the socket for about $10 at Autozone. Make sure you get the crow's foot-type (it'll have a star on the side of it) and not the regular socket. All of this made the job simple as hell.
And yeah, you should be able to lift the car and get right at it. The angle is kind of awkward, but it's not too bad.
By the way, that Bosch sensor is way overpriced. Get the NGK universal one for $99 and wire it in yourself. It's really not too bad to cut and re-wire everything. Check your local Autozone, they should have three or four different types for our car. Last I checked, they had two direct replacement (which DO fit) and a few universal, which I would imagine should fit just fine.

1- disonnect Battery and the sensors plug
2- Cut the wires near the sensor
3- Get the closed end of a 22mm wrench on the sensor
4- take a pipe long enough to brake it loose.
Did mine last week, took 10 minutes.

I wanted everyone to know that I had the Bosch 15224 sensor installed last night. This is the correct number for the red sensor on bank2 sensor 2 code P0158. So far, my check engine light has not returned and it seems to have done the trick for me. I'll see if it stays fixed. By the way I picked up my sensor at Amazon of all places for around $60. It was basically the same price as the generic one and it plugged right in.
