brake light...

ok guys so my maxima seems to be developing more and more issues recently!!! 190k on it so im not really surprised...however i got 2 more months to pay on it so im looking for advise on my brake light(the one that comes on when e brake is engaged).as of recently it seems to come on in the mornings when it is cold outside and usually within an hour or two of driving it it will go out or after about an hour i stomp on the brakes it will also go out. i dont have any leaks that i can see and im not having any braking problems.Does anyone have any idea as to what this could be.Its not really something im going to fix unless i keep the car because ive been eyeballing an 02 6speed near me that for sale, but if i keep it i would like to fix this.

Quick test on the fluid level sensor is to take the cap off of the brake master cylinder, then lift out the mesh strainer piece. BIG CAUTION - BRAKE FLUID EATS PAINT!! you should see a white piece of plastic floating in the brake fluid. This is the float sensor, kind of like the float in a toilet. You can push it down with your finger and it should come back up, maybe in a second or two. If it does, its probably working OK.

Most likely you are low on brake fluid. As brake pads wear, the fluid level goes down. Also check that your parking brake handle is all the way down and not one click up.

this is unlikely but possible. but ive noticed if i pull my e-brake handle up a click or two, it doesnt engage, but the light comes on

on checking fluids first.
