Service engine soon light!

Coming home from school my check engine light came on. I went to auto zone to get it checked out. It was code P0011, Intake Valve timing(IVT) control circuit failure.
Possible Causes
-IVT control solenoid open or shorted
-Cam/crank sensors out of phase
-Dirt buildup at control valve
I have a few questions
-How can you fix this
-Can further driving harm my engine
-Could the problem be from my CAI

How can you fix this
1. Pay a mechanic
2. Download the service manual and troubleshoot yourself. It tricky without a Consult machine

Can further driving harm my engine
Potentially

-Could the problem be from my CAI
Probably not.

i'm not real familiar with this problem but i know that if you are having cam/crank sensor issues the car wont or will have trouble starting. This leads me to believe this is an IVT issue of some sort. Hope this helps

Buy an OBDII Code reader from Kragen, Napa, or Pepboys, plug it into the car just below the steering wheel, and reset the computer. Drive for about 200 miles (over a few days)and the computer will run a self diagnostic again and see if you get the same code again if the problem exists. It might be a false code or bad sensor. The only codes I have ever received on either my old 1996 Maxima or my current 2002 Maxima are usually related to exhaust system problem.
