take a cloth, put it over it, take a wrench of some sort, and twist like a ****... i forgot which way though.. and you'll have scratch's on your shifter... i think it was.... counter clock wise.

Or you could try heating it up with a hair dryer and turning the **** left. The **** is glued down I believe so heating it up will probably help break it loose.

It takes a while to spin off. I.E. there is a lot of thread and the know is all the way down. I spun a while and tugged every once in a while when I thought I was almost done. Eventually it just popped off. If you have it "unseated" and can spin it, its just a matter of patience at that point to get it all the way off.

It MAY be possible to remove the boot without removing the console.

It is held at the base by a square shaped ring(actually part of the boot) that snaps around all the sides into the console. Just pull on the bottom of the boot towards the shifter one side at a time.

Until you've seen it though it might be easier to just remove the console.

What boot are you going with? I tried the MOMO Elegance and unless you go with a MOMO/aftermarket shift **** with a FAT base, it doesn't fit/look right.

I'm going to try the MOMO Universal once I return the Elegance.
