I always wondered what is the difference between a 19" rim and a 20" rim (besides the 1" of course)? I see a lot of people dissing the dubs but everyone is running to the 19's like there is a major difference.

Nobody said anything about 19s But you have to take in consideration the tires as well as the rim size. 1 inch makes a hell of a difference

True, i just threw 19 out there because a lot of people like the rim size plus its in between the two sizes the op posted.

Weight, mostly. Anything over 18"-19" is usually too heavy for race conditions. And tend to wear heavily on the tranny and suspension.

Anything over an 18", unless you're going strictly for a show-car, is pointless. And well, lifted on dubs just looks ridiculous.

Enkeis are known for being relatively light, though, aren't they?

Btw, where'd you get that grill from? Custom, or ordered? I thought those were only made for the 5th gens.

Ive had:
15s <-- winter set, z31s (current) -- Too small
16s <-- track wheels/summer z32s (current) -- Too small, although light
17s <-- Stock (sold), Mille Meglia (sold) -- Too small
19s <-- Motegis (sold) -- Too big

Go with 18s for a 5th gen

I think domestic cars look good with big rims but cars made in the far east (ex china, japan, etc) look good with smaller rims. Just my observation

I got 19"....20 is too big and looks goofy on a 5th gen. It also depends on the style/color of the rim as that will deceive the eye making the wheel look bigger/smaller than it actually is.

The 18" posted above doesn't look too bad and the extra 1" on the sidewall will definitely help with ride comfort.

You can go with 18s, 19s, or 20s, on a 5th gen and make it look good. The big secret is picking the correct tire size. If you keep the same relative overall diameter you'll be fine.

And if you havent touched your suspension yet, dont get rims...

i've stuck with 17's on my Max, 5Zigen FN01RC Titanium Bronze, on a super black. still riding on stock suspension, and at 15lbs a rim cant go wrong. 225/45/17 tires.

I'd good with 19"s unless you have a low drop then you can get away with 18"s.

To tell you the truth these seemed to weigh as much tire+rim as the stockers do. But then again these are one of Enkei's lower buck rims so they aren't going to be a full race weight rim. BTW as essential1 said the right tire size has a lot to do with it. Larger sidewall = better ride, shorter = better handling. The right size for you will hinge on what you want out of the car. For me I wanted more traction so I have 235 (mm?) width tires on these rims and so far so good.

On the grille, it's an old JMS grille I got lucky with in the classifieds here on the org. From what I understand the company that made it is no longer in business but to tell you the truth it isn't hard to make. It's just expanded metal mesh that has been cut to size then pressed into a die. I guess the real thing that set this grille apart was the primer coat they put on the grille.

The 5th Gen comes with 17's. If I was going to change rims, I would go with 19" rims. Going to 18" just does'nt justify the expense and 20" rims are too big and look stupid IMO.
But going to 19's you will have limited choices for rims & tires. Something to think about?

Something else to think about is tire manufacturers make lots of tires in the 17 19 and 20" sizes and you will find those to be pretty cheap compared to what you find in a 18" size. On average 17s, 19s and 20s were a minimum of $20 cheaper per tire than they were for my 235/40/18s.

Sometimes. Ive seen 19" tires go for $100 more than 18"s. And some tires not even offered in 19" sizes...

To me Maximas look mofre like a luxury style vehicle than a traffic ripper, so I personally am doing 19" "dubbish" style rims, nothing too crazy or too much though, I like them with a bigger rim with a deep dish, I just find it suits the car best for my tastes, but nothing cheesy

I have 19 inch racing hart C-5's. Before these I had a set of 18's and 17's on my 4th gen. and the 19's are perfect.

Ummm no There are more options for 17 and 18 inch wheels than there are for 19 and 20 inch wheels. Not only that you can add a whole LOT of cost to the purchase when you jump to anything larger than 19". On a good tire it can be 75-100 more per tire when going from 17 to an 18. Honstly i'll be going for a 17" wheel since ride, comfort and cost are important on my DD

Well op if your considaring a nicer ride into your purchase than you should exclude 19"+ cause it only gets worse. I have 18"s and they fit and fill perfect. I love the look I also like the look of 17's on a nice drop. It just doesnt look to over done. it is still clean looking under 19"

Either way....good luck with your decision.

well just got back from picking up the 350z rims not to bad, will it be an issue with the rear tires being staggerd or will it fit just right?

I had 17in Z rims from a 2003 on the Max but I messed up my rear ones in a hydroplane accident. I now have 18in Z rims from a 2005, I'm also running 3 and 5mm spacers. You can still rotate the wheels even though they're staggered, you can hardly tell the difference, its only a half inch. Or if you prefer you can try to trade your fronts or backs with someone so you'll both have the same size.

going for 17x 8 myself. 18's look too small unless you have an aggressive drop.

Might be a regional thing, buddy of mine manages a tire shop and that's what he said to me a couple of weekends when I bought new tires from him. Basically he was having a hard time getting a decent deal on 235/40/18s but was finding 17, 19 & 20 at a savings of about $25-$50 a tire.
