500 mile dte
Sorry picture quality isn't that good, it was at night. The next fill-up it said 502 dte but the picture was even worse...
Night video showing that wasn't a fluke. Note the speed, miles driven and dte, along with mpg-which as always, was optimistic. Still got 26.4 mpg that tank and my average speed was 79 over 412 miles, much of that at a legal 80 mph in west Texas. Not too shabby for the miles on the car!

Test pipe, GAB, ground wires and NWP block plate all combining to make my car a lean mean mpg machine! Yeah, all freeway and light traffic.
BTW, the light timing is so much better in Phoenix. I got 22.5 mpg (doing the math, trip computer said 25.8) in combined city/freeway driving there when I typically get around 19 mpg here under the same driving conditions.

Even in my 2002 with 197,000 miles on it I can get the DTE to read 400 after a fill up. Did I mention I have the MIL for P0139 and P1147? One oxygen sensor I replaced, still looking to get the other.
What I found myself is if I keep driving past the flashing DTE - - - - maybe another 15 miles, then fill up, the DTE will be a crazy silly high number. Even after driving away, it'll go higher. Then the next day it'll start going down.
Still, amazing to see the 500 miles to empty. Maybe I should get those ground wires.

Nope, I'm just teasing Scott. (Noobie? Meh. Only the insecure use disparaging labels. See G. W. Bush.)
Ever the optimist, Scott. Your car's amazing health is an inspiration to those questioning the longevity of their ride.

Scott, thats pretty good mpg. Wonder what if you keep a constant 65 mpg and get like 30 mpg.
I ususally get 22-24 mpg driving 60% (stop and go) highway and 40% city. This site is pretty accurate. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/17740.shtml
Just a curious question, how many miles has driven what your gas level hit the midway point? Mine says 200 - 210ish.

I have seen the 500 mile DTE once as well but it soon dropped to 374 miles after I reset the trip computer. These cars usually stay full for about 60-70 miles or so and once they get below 3/4 of tank that hands drops of quick as heck, I usually have about 200 or so at 1/2 tank and end up at about 300-320 miles before fillup. Z is the same way, once that hand gets below 3/4 it drops quick!
I don't understand, driving habits are the exact same, gone through all of the ways to try and increase your mgp. Oh well, I've never gotten below 23-24 though. Stays pretty consistent.

I have noticed my mileage takes a dump if it is under 40 degrees like it was much of the return trip. Was averaging about 25 mpg (doing the math, trip computer was 27-29 mpg) on the way back.

+1 to that. this annoys me so much...i think to myself everytime i reach a half a tank, ok I'm going to get 400 out of this tank, but it never happens lol.

Lafayette, La to Houston, back to Lafayette, then 75 miles to work... Parked overnight in Houston, 65-70 the whole way taking it as easy as I could...
As mpg-conscious as I am, I didnt even think about what kind of DTE I could have got, this was after I left the station and stopped down the road.

FWIW, DTE is ONLY based on the current:
- fuel tank gauge unit (fuel remaining)
- ECM pulse signal (fuel consump-tion) and
- vehicle speed signal
In other words, average fuel consumption is not a factor in this calculation.

you know that if you reset it on the highway ~60mph.. you can get it to say all kinds of wacky numbers.. i think i can get mine to read 60+ MPG , and the DTE is partly based off that number so... lets see some actual tank math with a fuel fill up reciept and pics of miles on the trip odometer
FWIW- my MPG say 28.4 with about 100 miles so far on the clock...and the DTE says around 360 ,... but.. ive never pushed 400,..360-370 is really good for me.. math calculated...
and to start a whole new arguement.. i get better mpg on 91 octane vs 93 octane

I'll go take a random 500 mile drive to get a picture, I just sorted through my few gas reciepts and dont have one above 472 miles on one tank, and on 17.1 gallons, that was only 27.6mpg... but I consistently get 400 miles per tank since all my driving is hwy and I do 150 miles to and from work 5 days a week.
and that's all on 91 octane... I second the 91 vs 93 you stated

My mileage improves once I get out of north Texas whether I go east or west (lots of rolling hills, constantly up and down) and Dallas east is generally 93 octane. I get similar mileage all the way to Kentucky and I use my cruise control on trips.
