Interesting... it be nice if this had some pics. Got a grounding kit already. Gas mileage is better since I installed it but still getting a 0420. However, the code doesn't show up as often as it did before.

I just bought a Maxima, but had the code 420 intermittently on my wife's 02 V6 Altima along with the code for Camshaft Position Sensor (sorry can't remember that number). The Altima DOES suffer slightly from the Nissan VQ35 oil consumption issue. I realized that when the oil got low or when I tried to stop the consumption with a stop leak treatment, it threw off the readings for the CPS, which retarded the timing, which then caused the car to run rich, which then fouled the plugs. I changed to a thinner oil, kept it topped off, and after the initial fix loaded the engine for about 5 minutes running it at 2k rpm in neutral to burn off the buildup on the O2. The problem has not returned.
The point being, there are many false alarms to the code 420. This may fix your issue, but if you have a slight oil consumption issue, you COULD make it worse by using a thick oil, a stop leak treatment, or a viscosity modifier (like Lucas Oil Stabilizer), or just putting too much oil in the car, and if you did any of those things for this most recent oil change, that could be your culprit.

ok so basicly what your saying is additive can produce problems for sensors? ha thanks i did put marvle in the oil before but i always did that with sea foam i wont next time n see what happens an ill post back
I have my 8 AWG wire, need to get terminals, crimper and solder gun and I am set to go!
I plan on doing 2. One on the left side body to engine. One on the right side, Battery negative to the body. I see existing ground taps already. Just need to clean them, apply dielectric grease and bolt on!

As I read these posts, I remember that the last time I was under my car I too seen this flimsy ground strap dangling in mid air. I wondered @ the time why the exhaust would be grounded when it bolts to the engine. I've never checked, but surely the engine must be grounded to the body, no?
I don't have any codes or issues, but I'm going to get my meter out and measure. A couple of ground straps for preventative maintenance could be in order.

If I can remember, I'm going to take a look under my 2002 and get some photos while I'm there. I got the 1147 and 0139 codes, already replaced one oxygen sensor just been too lazy to get the other oxygen sensor.

I will follow the DIY as stated in the link above. At least for starters. Instead of the radiator mounting bolts, I have identified body ground taps near the areas I want the engine grounded. Need to remove and clean them and add new grounds.
