Installing front lip spoiler

This is the spoiler I ordered and I know I have to sand some of the rough edges, but when test fitting it, it appears i have to trim out a pc in the center so that it will fit flush against the car? Is this true or does the BIG bottom lip on this thing fit under the car? Help/suggestions welcome!
Thanks Guys

I believe that lip was for 00-01 Maximas not and 02-03 which have different bumpers.

It has a sticker on the inside of the lip that says 02-03 Maximas. I wonder if I have to notch it like this one:

if that pic is the exact lip you got, its for our 5th gens, not the 5.5. that ebay listing is inaccurate. youre gonna have to cut a notch in the lip. i have this same one.

Ya I am having a mother of a time fitting it to the car. I have a dremel and I have been having to grind a lot of the spoiler, not just the notch in the center. That was the easy part.
I am scratching the crap out of the paint on the bumper cover trying to get this thing to fit.
Any hints or pointers you can give me would be greatly appreciated. And how did you attach it? They give you 4 self tapping screws, but no way is that alone going to hold it on the car. Did you tack it in the middle with plastic toggle bolts or metal rivets?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Not to sound like a douche, but your friend didn't buy this exact lip and fit it on his 02-03 maxima with no problem.

Stretching and pulling is an understatement. Have spent the last 3-4 knights grinding the crap out of it. The more material I remove the better it is getting. I am at the point where I can at least clamp it to the car.
Can't beleive they only provide you with 4 screws to hold the thing on.
Going to try and get it fitted as best as possible and then I'll paint it and attach it to the car.
Watch, the first time out my duaghter will probably rip the thing of or destroy it. If that happens, I am not putting anything on it again.
Ahh lessons learned!

this is what happens when research and using the search tab isnt used....
- The pic of that lip is upside down
- that lip is ABS plastic and will crack
- that lip is for a 5th gen 00-01 (stillen replica), not 5.5 (02-03)
- a front lip is probebly the most important part of the kit to have urethane as it takes most damage................... Good luck buddy

Well I got it on the car as best as possible. I figure I'll leave it on for awhile hoping it will form to the body a little better? Then I'm going to figure out if my daughter wants to keep black or paint it silver.
It looks pretty good black only because the car is silver and the grille id painted black. Either way I will need to take it off in order to sand the rough spots and smooth it out and then paint it whatever color she chooses. I'll keep you guys posted.

I've said it in the past and I'll say it again.

regardless what material the front lip is made of...it will shatter just the same when debris hits it. Granted the ABS plastic is more brittle, they will all crack when on the front of car if you constantly hit against a curb or gets hit with a truck tire on the highway

Which is why you must be aware of obstacles...........

Rattle can. Duplicolor Semi-Gloss Black. My daughter and i decided on black because the car is silver. If it was any other color I would have matched the body color. Sanded then primered it and then sprayed it.
We'll have to see how long this lasts. My daughter is pretty carefull with the car and it's not lowered or else I would be in real trouble.
I figure if it gets blasted, I'll just take it off and I did order matching siler paint from NAPA and I'll spray the front bumper cover if I need to.

looks good man... i disagree with Drunkie, now in extreme situations yes the all break, but debris never afftected my 00 front lip.. actually a front end collision never even scratched it either

Considering how hard it sounds like it was to mount, it turned out pretty well.

Lot of grinding, I am no body man and this is the first time I have ever attempted to do something like this. Hopefully it will survive for awhile.

No I didn't Clear coat it. I thought about doing that, but I wanted the Satin/Semi Gloss look and I figured if I clear coated it, that would defeat the purpose.

I also took off the Grille & the Grille-Tech Lower Grille Mesh and painted them with the Duplicolor Seni Gloss black, so everything would match. I also bought a smoke tint Liscence plate cover so it would blend in better.
